<Looks at phone and sees back-to-back videos of masked thugs violently abducting people.>

<Puts phone down to reply to yet another work email.>

<Loses mind.>

Just saw “Trump slump” in a headline and it’s my new favorite phrase. #trumpslump

Expecting people to do all of this at once is like expecting someone who has been sedentary for 30 years to go run a marathon. Never gonna happen and you kill the cause. Get them to do one day like yesterday. Get them to boycott one company on this list. This is behavior change. It takes time.

Perfect explanation for those who object with “There’s no point, a one-day boycott or protest has no effect.” And as a powerlifter I especially appreciate the metaphor.

I’m enjoying paying attention to who I’m supporting (or not) with my money. If it’s a little more work or I have to pay a few extra dollars to shop small and/or local, fine. I consider that my patriotic duty now that we’ve been completely sold out to the billionaires and Papa Vlad.

—Got about 1,000 steps walking from the car to the shop and back

—Interacted with a human employee instead of AI and a screen (also thereby helping justify a local job)

—Had a chance to browse other books and enjoy being in the company of other like-minded and literate people

(2) I discovered some hidden benefits beyond the obvious one (not giving another red cent to yet another complicit oligarch):

—Carefully considered my purchase before making it, instead of impulse-buying

—Got to see some beautiful snow-capped mountains on the way to the store

I picked up this book today from an awesome independent bookstore in Burlington, VT.

This is exclusively how I’ll be buying my books from now on: from indie bookshops like this. No more Amazon for me, for pretty much anything, unless I really need it and absolutely can’t get it elsewhere. 🧵

Any psychologist or psychiatrist (or former abused spouse) will tell you that President Zelensky gave a master class today on how to deal with a malignant narcissist.

He is an amazing man. We can all learn from him.

We just received word that the DOJ has begun removing data detailing criminal charges and convictions related to Trump loyalists. This started with records from the January 6th insurrection, but additional records are now being erased. We will keep you updated once we have more info.

But yeah, Pres. Elon can hang out in the Oval wearing a T-shirt, a baseball cap, and a bratty four-year-old.
