It's funny how things switched around throughout that generation as Sony finally got their shit together and provided tools. A lot of late multiplatform games run better on PS3 but man, shit was messy those first 4 years

What about burning? I went to burn my daughter a CD recently and all the recommendations were windows media player (which didn't work) or iTunes (which is annoying)

I love Starcraft and had a deep obsession with it at ~12 years old but as someone who had almost zero exposure to Warhammer 40k until recent years, I'm over here picking up random games like Space Marine 2 and it's exactly the shit I would have lost my mind over at ~12 years old lol. Lots to enjoy!

4 was my starting point but it got a bunch of expansions that I never touched. Overall I think 5 was my favorite for the base game, I couldn't quite get into 6 the same way and I haven't touched 7.

I would like to go back and try 3 someday though

Reporting back on this that the xliveless dll works perfectly, just drop it in the game folder and it launches no problem.

This game is a LOT more fun than I remember. And the bite size sequences make it easy to fall into a "just one more round" loop.

Civilization 4, specifically the Colonization expansion which I've never played before this.

I know the xliveless workaround DOES work on Linux but sometimes you have to install a specific version of games for Windows live first. I got the original Gears of War port working so I'm pretty confident

We have a generator but it's not nearly enough to power our heating system. It's mostly to run our sump pump in a rain storm if we lose power, maybe the fridge.

Ah nice! I love me some PS360 era jank. I feel like the 7's of that era hit different than 7's of other eras, partially cuz all the standard conventions we're used to now were still solidifying then, so a lot of the games that didn't quite hit the mark were usually trying something a bit different

It's very much a shooter formatted as a racing game, like the levels are courses and you do laps and try to beat times
