You are not. It’s got to be even money that the final thing ends up being the same size as the model he’s holding, right?
That would’ve been a controversy had the TD counted. He catches the ball at the one, and is immediately in the grasp of two defenders who push him back to the 5. His forward progress was clearly stopped and he should’ve been whistled down.
You get to redo the down on an accepted penalty, but they don’t put time back on the clock. There needs to be time on the clock to run the play. There are no untimed downs for offensive penalties, only for defensive ones at the end of a half.
I’m pretty sure the clock stops when the play ends, not when the flag comes out.
It’s also a very sparsely populated area. Prop 50 is expected to pass easily. It’ll probably be like the recall in 2021 - a lot of noise and seeming momentum in the conservative areas of the state, which gets totally overwhelmed when the cities actually vote.
If they had walked him in the 7th we wouldn’t still be here.
The text in the voter information guide says that the commission’s maps would return in 2031. So the idea is to suspend the independent redistricting, not eliminate it completely.
That was a great run, but to the Wild Card. The Rockies have never finished in 1st place.
Just one glass…just one glass…but the bottle is made of glass, so I got some wiggle room here.
They haven’t been the Devil Rays since 2007
The quote is fake. I agree with the sentiment, and maybe so does Pope Leo - but there’s no evidence of him actually saying this.
Pete Alonso was going to hit third for the NL - he wasn’t in the game anymore. But he was replaced later than Judge or Raleigh.
Incidentally, the pitcher in this case is in the Hall of Fame so he had plenty of success outside of this.
“Walk off” is typically used now to describe what the batter does - he hits a walk off - but the origin of the term describes the lonely dejection of the losing pitcher.
This is one of the most famous walk offs in history. The pitcher who surrendered it is widely credited with coining the term “walk off” (though not specifically in reference to this game). Why walk off? Well, while the batter celebrates with his team, the pitcher quietly walks off the field.
He lived in the Vatican guest house, which is supposedly relatively simple. Not saying he was perfect but he really did try to live more simply than most of his predecessors.
Pope Francis was a Jesuit, not a Franciscan. His choice of Francis as a Papal name clearly evokes Francis and Franciscan principles, but he belonged to the Jesuit order.
There was definitely a plane and it was still flying around when she said this. I’m pretty sure it was gone before she finished, though. …Maybe he was hurt that AOC acted like he wasn’t still there?
Gimenez has a career OBP of .322 and has walked 110 times over 5 seasons and 2,148 plate appearances. He might get walked a couple of times today, but it’s not a skill he’s shown much of in his career so far.
I know this only happens every four years, but…there was only “hell and high water” that one time, right? And she was all for it? I am remembering that correctly, am I not?
While it’s sad to see him go, it’s good that he went now, while Biden is still President. He lived a long and wonderful life and will get the respectful send off that he deserves.
Glad to see some people mention them. I know that music nerds love them but I just don’t hear what they’re hearing. Do not go back, Jack. Please, for the love of Christ, DO NOT do it again. Just stop.
Liz Cheney in Kamala Harris’s cabinet >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Donald Trump having a cabinet. That seemed really obvious before the election and feels even more so now.
A lot of the responses are from CA voters. Schiff was on our ballots twice - once to complete Feinstein’s term, and once for the full term starting next month. Don’t know why Newsom’s statement doesn’t mention that, but we voted for Schiff to finish this term.
Fair enough - but that doesn’t feel like being “sidetracked” into defending the pardon. It feels more like “listing reasons for” defending it.
“One nation, indivisible” has been there the whole time. “Under God” is the bit that was added to the Pledge in the ‘50s.
I don’t see hypocrisy here. Hunter was clearly being prosecuted because he’s the President’s son. Hypocrisy would be Biden refusing a pardon of a political opponent’s child in a similar situation. This feels more like doing justice for your kid when you have a chance.
How far back are we going for “always”?
