was pretty exhausting pfft, but totally expected that with the travel and being back to work, but everyone there is really nice so i'm excited for more :3

i've been out of work for (almost) 10 weeks now, but tomorrow, i'll be start my new role in London o7

having this time off has been really nice and refreshing, but i'm also honestly excited to get back to working somewhere new and learning more~

even as someone who has run Minecraft servers for over a decade, i forgot to increase the default allocated memory 💀

there's too much for just a (fairly) simple server,,,

there's also (as far as i'm aware) zero official documentation on what those settings do, or the options available hsjxh

it also defaults to the whitelist being off, which is just asking for scraping bots to cause pain pffft

true~!! Essential is nice for like playing actively in a group, but yeah, when hosting a private server now i see *so* many scraping bots testing if the whitelist is disabled etc., easy thing for someone unfamiliar with it all to overlook and get griefed 😭

i feel so bad for casual players getting into setting up private Minecraft servers nowadays, there are so many properties and plugins to keep in mind just to get a decent instance running,,,

Realms can make that process easier, but with no mod support, also really limits what you can do :c
