In 2024:
Girls: 75%
Boys: 61%
No one thinks that's because we're better at teaching little girls right? Girls are just naturally better at the stuff we care about at that age

Unlike at KS2, nationally performance at A level is up slightly on 2019.

The disadvantage gap is depressingly consistent though.

Congratulations to Ark who top the table of the big mats (10+ schools in tables) for A level APS.

Once again comparing maintained schools to acads/free schs reveals little difference although the academies attainment at A level is slightly higher.

There are now around 5 times as many academies and free schools (1538) as LA run (311) in the post 16 tables.

Big up Bishop Wilkinson who top the table for Tech Levels (not to be confused with T Levels). Also big shout out to Harris Federation in 3rd - their strong vocational teaching benefited over 2k pupils across 12 schools.

Also massive congratulations to Central Learning Partnership Trust who's improvement in A level APS was 6.6 (that's 2/3 of a grade and significantly higher than the next best improver North East Learning Trust who were up 4.1)

Congratulations to Girls' Learning Trust who knock COLA off the top spot for A level average points score. They are selective though so you'd expect them to do well.

Comparison of LA schools vs academies/free schools has something for everyone. LA schools continue to do slightly better at getting kids to expected standard in reading, writing and maths but the gap is narrowing.
I think this trend will continue and academies will overtake LA schools next year.

Here are the top 10 big mats (those with 10 or more schools in tables). Shout out to @staracademies.org who top this table. Also big up my friends at Ark and Harris - 1st and 2nd out of those with 20 or more schools.

South Farnham also top in % RWM GDS and by a wider margin, props to Genesis Education Trust who're second in both measures and closing the gap.

I've updated my website with 2024 SATs data from compare school performance. Congratulations to South Farnham Educational Trust who top the table for RWM % EXS again this year. Although they (like the sector overall) haven't matched 2019 levels.
