This is ALL on the REPUBLICANS. And most especially on Mike Johnson.

It's a real indicator of just how good the NBA really is, that the very best college player in the country starts as a roughly average-or-below player on a middling pro team.

If policies led to votes, we'd have very different representation.

I wish it were different; I wish people based their votes on a careful analysis of policies and their impact, but research is clear that for the most part, policy preferences come from political affiliation, and not the reverse.

I found this piece sad too, but mostly because it is part of a years-long effort by progressives to understand what "really" animates Trump voters.

We already know! It is racism, misogyny and misinformation. I know that sounds condescending or whatever but it's simply what all evidence suggests.

โ€œFascism is male. It loves danger, dislikes chitchat, and scorns courting; because of its natural roughness, it uses its fists when necessary; Fascism is as hard as stone; a far cry from the sweet texture of candied fruit thatโ€”like the soul of a womanโ€”hides a hard, teeth-cracking pit inside. That suffices to determine its sex. . . . In short, Fascism arouses virility against any sort of effeminateness or weakness of the spirit. It is also against the Petrarchism of poetry, the mysticism of religion, the democratization and liberalization of politics, against dandyism and leniency at school. Is there anything more masculine than that?โ€

This is where I point to my pinned post:
The role of racism in the development of fascism is well known. Less widely known, but as important (I'd argue) is the role of sexism. Hegemonic masculinity, with its inherent misogyny and homophobia, has been central to the rise of every fascist movement.

Excited for 2028 when some state SoS kicks Trump off the ballot, Federal district and appellate judges uphold it and then SCOTUS issues an unsigned 6-3 shadow docket rulling staying the lower court ruling, allowing Trump to stay on the ballot and schedules arguments for the case for February 2029.
