Shrugged off as in not a question worth spending her time on. I’ve heard it raised, she had too, and it was a good jumping off point for her to give what I thought was a strong explanation for her run for mayor. I just don’t think you can read the whole piece and think it’s dismissive.

Did you read the whole story? To say it’s dismissive feels like a major mischaracterization

A Facebook post by Pramila Jayapal:

I'm proud to endorse both Bruce Harrell and Katie Wilson for Seattle Mayor in the Seattle mayoral race.

Read my full statement.

TEAM JAYAPAL ENDORSED BRUCE HARRELL & KATIE WILSON

"In his time as Mayor, Mayor Harrell has been a strong partner for me-both in working together to deliver federal dollars and progressive policies that benefit Seattle and the 7th Congressional District, and in ensuring we stand up to Donald Trump's authoritarian overreaches that hurt our residents and erode our democracy.

That is why I was proud to endorse him back in December 2024 and stand by that endorsement.

In the last several months since Katie Wilson entered the race, I have had several conversations with her and have been impressed by her vision, skills and commitment to progressive policies that will make us an inclusive, innovative, and affordable city for working people."

"That is why today, I am proud to announce that I will also be endorsing Katie Wilson in her bid to be Seattle's next Mayor.

Katie is an organizer, like me, who has shown her fight and mettle in successfully organizing transit riders from the ground up, working in coalition to pass successful policies like the jumpstart tax and desperately needed social housing. She understands the need to build a strong team around her that will ensure her vision becomes reality.

She will be a fighter for the principles of equity, immigrant justice, civil rights, and fundamental democratic rights that are all under threat right now and hallmarks of the fights I take on every single day as your Member of Congress."

"I also believe that if we are to truly have a democratic process, voters need to speak for themselves without millions of dollars from wealthy individuals and big corporations being poured into our elections. Katie's exceptional win in the primary election is an inspiring example of just that.

For all these reasons, I am proud to make this dual endorsement today."

Rep. Pramila Jayapal, who chairs the Congressional Progressive Caucus, had previously endorsed Bruce Harrell.

She is now dual endorsing Bruce Harrell and Katie Wilson for Seattle mayor. #SEAelex

Seattle officers β€˜undermining’ city’s police alternative, report says The CARE team has become a darling both inside City Hall and among candidates for office, but Seattle police often aren't using this resource, records show.

The chief of Seattle’s new police alternative β€œCARE” says police officers are systemically waving off crisis responders in what staff call a β€œpattern of subversion”

She wouldn’t even have a full year in the job, so they wouldn’t give it to her nor would she likely seek it

Strauss has annoyed too many people on the council to be president

They have latitude over when and where legislation goes, which can end up mattering depending on who’s chairing which committee

Loosely based on seniority but that would have been Morales last time and, at one point, Sawant, so it’s not a hard rule.

Scuttlebutt around City Hall: If (when?) Sara Nelson loses this fall, Bob Kettle is the current favorite to be Council President.

There’s certainly a world in which Crosscut could/should have survived without KCTS, but we did actually have a meeting in 2015 (I think) where they told us β€œif this merger doesn’t work out, you’re all laid off”

Fiery take on the death of Crosscut from Paul Queary of the Washington Observer:

I understand most people's final day is Oct. 31. As if you needed more confirmation of how out of touch KCTS leadership is with its own news operation, I'm pretty sure this is the second time they've fired people days before an election.

I heard the news this morning. I owe everything to Crosscut and this breaks my heart. Frankly, it always felt over managed by people who’d never worked in print journalism before. My heart goes out to everyone there

Nice, Nathan. It inspires me to share a memory which is that I couldn’t eat nacho Doritos for a decade because I puked up a bag out of sadness in the Kingdome watching the 95 M’s be eliminated by the Indians

My most lukewarm take is people should do the job they were elected to do, which means voting at meetings and not quitting one year into a four year term

Rivera has been talking a lot about NYC. I would love to see the ratio of trees on public vs. private land in NYC.

The council committee has approved a new comprehensive plan for growth. It likely needs more environmental review, so likely won't get a final vote until later this fall. The council now needs to take up its final zoning bill.

18.09.2025 19:39 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Ironically, Debora Juarez was famously the most district-focused member when she was first elected but is now taking votes with an eye toward the broader impact of the comprehensive plan

18.09.2025 18:13 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I'll say that this comp plan discussion is by far the most overt example of a district-based city council leading to factionalism I've seen, with each member claiming final authority over "their" district and Sara Nelson abstaining on controversial votes in deference to the district representatives

Sneaky amendment from Rivera. She proposed to shrink this neighborhood center in parts where there are single family homes and add a chunk to the south. The problem? The addition is exactly where the Ronald McDonald House is, pretty much guaranteeing it will not be developed. Amendment failed, 3-3-2

18.09.2025 17:50 β€” πŸ‘ 13    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

She (with Rinck and Strauss) again votes against shrinking the Madrona neighborhood center. It still wins, 4-3-1.
