The pivot to a bond rather than tax levy carries risk because it would need 60% of the vote to pass. But polling shows support is strong.
The pitch for Seattle Center is now a bond for up to as much as $1.5 billion, and would include funding for other city venues like 5th ave, Paramount, Benaroya, etc.

I've found myself seeking out and enjoying "indulgently slow and vague" media more and more these days
DQ'd from my list because I liked Nope!
Ferries and airports, the only places where a beer is acceptable at any hour
This makes me want to start a “incredible acting in movies I don’t like” list
The gap between the quality of Rose Byrne's acting in "If I had legs, I'd kick you" and my overall opinion of the movie itself is maybe the largest I've ever experienced
Neither here nor there, but I only learned the Czech Republic now goes by Czechia in English during this year's Olympics. Apparently this change happened in 2016?? News to me.
Looks good!
I watched @dbeekman.bsky.social anguish over this story for months and the final product shows. Fantastic work. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
The Democrats hold all the power in Olympia. They should probably be allowed to complain about each other on Facebook
If you’re ever tempted to plant hops directly into the ground, don’t. This is one root from one I had to dig up. They’re monsters.
It’s a slightly thicker tire, but yeah, I packed extras
Appropriately I nearly ate shit in that crack while filming this
I generally think biking is a good way for a city hall reporter to get around, except when the mayor holds a press conference in deep SoDo
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms had what I really liked about the first five seasons of Game of Thrones — humor, interesting interpersonal relationships, unglamorous violence and a willingness to deny viewers what they think they want
Mayors, unlike council people, do not have to attend public meetings and listen to public comment. Answering questions at press conferences is pretty much the only time they have to answer to the public directly, even if it's via journalists asking questions.
It was a very bad look at a press conference related to what is, arguably, the primary goal of her tenure as mayor
My ride into work on Bell st just got a lot more dramatic!
This from a PDR I just got back
Tired: Seattle can't keep a mayor
Wired: Seattle can't keep a head of City Light. We're likely to have four different ones just this year.
I got a large pile of dirt delivered to my house this week and it’s embarrassing how happy that makes me
Mayor Katie Wilson has asked departments to deliver plans for 5-10% cuts. Doesn’t mean those cuts will happen, but a sign of the challenges ahead

Me, talking to myself after failing to win a Pulitzer:
Nah. Onetime she laughed at me for filing a records request with CARE because she just passes out whatever you want
Amy Barden of the CARE team is the most blunt spoken city leader I've ever interacted with and she's backing that up today in City Hall, ripping into the restrictions on her team's ability to respond to many events that are baked into the new police contract.
Last year a state Corrections employee told me she was troubled by prison officials’ failure to request autopsies after people died in custody. I looked into it for @seattletimes-rss.bsky.social www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
This thing has happened to me a few times now where I see a band in high school and think I'm catching the tail end of their careers, only to look up 20 years later and they're still playing. Belle and Sebastian fits this bill.
Is Courtney Barnett's 'Depreston' the only song about the soul crushing process of real estate shopping?
