I’m passionate about food and the love it brings. I want every child to experience that love and passion. I want every human to eat fresh and abundant food. Food or its scarcity should never be a weapon or a punishment. May we all have full plates and a fertile land.

This series has been my love letter to the stewards of the land who taught me where delicious food comes from— the growers and producers and cooks who I grew up with. I hope to share that love with readers who might never have considered the care that goes into bringing these foods to their table.

Three days until the release of Sugar Shack! This is the 3rd graphic novel in my middle-grade Peapod Farm series, which is about stepsiblings on a farm, and includes stories about growing, harvesting and supplying food! My own kiddo says it’s the best one yet.

Thanks! We have a lot of lethargic snappers who won’t even bite my stick! So I usually keep a shovel in our trunk and gently scoop em onto it and drag em across. They’re usually amenable! I’ve done the tail grab, but only with big gloves! Awesome!

If you’re curious, top is raspberry, middle is wineberry— smaller, less tart, shinier and not at all fuzzy—and bottom is a blackcap. Eat em all up yum!
