BREAKING: Federal court just GRANTED our court order to block Trump admin from shutting down SNAP. Order also issued in state AG case. Hope millions can breathe a sigh of relief. Incredible work to @democracyforward.org and our co-counsel.

BREAKING: A federal court blocked the Trump-Vance administrationโ€™s attempt to cut off food assistance for 42 million people during the ongoing government shutdown.

We'll keep fighting to ensure that federal programs serve their lawful purpose: to help, not harm, people and communities.

The Regime's goal is to grind everyone down. Plain & simple. Our goal is to refuse this by taking turns to fight where and how we can. When one group needs to bow out, then another group needs to step in and so on. We don't all have to do everything. We can all do something though. Stay in the fight

@cmcharlesallen.bsky.social @cmcharlesallen.bsky.social Please reconsider. Extending this curfew, when the Feds are using every tool possible to occupy our city, is neither a smart move nor supportive of our community. DC, and our Ward 6 neighbors, deserve so much better.

All charges brought against protesters at Broadview today must be dropped. When cops and agents attack crowds without provocation, they make shit up to justify their attacks (in his case, an attack waged on a cooperative crowd to produce fascist social media content). These charges must be dropped.

I don't care how difficult it is to square DC's budget, we should never be cutting health care for low-income residents and immigrants, our neighbors who have a right to health care. @cmcharlesallen.bsky.social there's plenty to cut that doesn't harm those most vulnerable at this moment.

Folks, you can't report the United States to its manager. There's no superhero coming to save us.

We don't need one giant act of heroism. We need millions of small acts of solidarity. Help one person in your community for nothing in return. Then, do it again. And again.

That's the revolution.

As ICE continues to threaten, harm, and arrest people across the nation, weโ€™re suing:

โš–๏ธTo keep ICE out of courtrooms
โš–๏ธTo keep ICE out of houses of worship
โš–๏ธTo keep Americansโ€™ data safe from ICE

Former IRS Executive Calls Immigrant Tax Data Deal โ€˜Illegalโ€™ย  | Tax Notes Tax Notes is the first source of essential daily news, analysis, and commentary for tax professionals whose success depends on being trusted for their expertise.

Itโ€™s illegal for the Trump-Vance admin to share immigrantsโ€™ tax return data with DHS โ€” and the former Chief Privacy Officer of the IRS agrees.

Thatโ€™s why weโ€™re in court today to protect taxpayersโ€™ data.

Looks to me our DC Mayor and Council Chair have gotten absolutely nothing with their capitulation and complacency. What monumental cowards. Or theyโ€™re just bad people. Who knows - the consequences for everyone else are the same either way.

With cellphone cameras and tip lines, D.C. residents find small ways to fight ICE How neighbors and school communities are organizing against the immigration crackdown.

Residents are finding all sorts of ways to fight ICE: They're recording and reporting. They're wheatpasting and sharing know-your-rights materials. And they're stepping up to care for each other, from delivering groceries to walking kids to school. 51st.news/dc-residents...

In a statement responding to @mayorbowser.bsky.socialโ€™s comments today on the ongoing presence of federal agents in the city, @freedcproject.bsky.social says: โ€œD.C. needs these federal forces out immediately. Every hour that they are still here is an hour that people in D.C. are in danger.โ€

For folks not in DC:
- There are full-on police checkpoints most nights
- Gangs of 30+ federal agents roam DC
- National Guard folks w/ guns patrolling a Harris Teeter
- Every day, multiple friends see ICE kidnapping ppl
- Daycares are scared to have kids go on walks due to ICE

After Watergate, Congress passed laws to protect sensitive taxpayer information. Now, the Trump-Vance administration is unlawfully facilitating mass sharing of taxpayer data with ICE.

So weโ€™re suing on behalf of tax experts and advocates.

Dear Members of the American Sociological Association:

We are delighted to share the ruling made today in ASAโ€™s case against the Department of Education. The case was filed in February 2025 in collaboration with a coalition of nationwide associations of educators and a public school district. Today, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland ruled in favor of the coalition, declaring that the Trump-Vance administrationโ€™s attempt to require school districts throughout the nation to censor lessons, abandon student support programs, and certify their compliance with the administrationโ€™s unlawful interpretation of civil rights is unconstitutional.

ASA President Adia Harvey Wingfield says: โ€œThe American Sociological Association is delighted with this ruling. It affirms that we sociologists can still do the challenging yet rewarding work of asking and answering hard questionsโ€“about race, inequality, society, and more. Furthermore, it confirms that teachers across the nation can continue to support students, enrich academic institutions, and maybe most importantly, do the essential work of providing a nuanced, thoughtful education! ASA will always stand with and for sociologists, and we are proud to stand up for students, for free speech, and for all Americansโ€™ right to an education that isnโ€™t marred by censorship, threats, and scare tactics."

This coalition is represented by Democracy Forward. You can read the full press release about this ruling here.

BREAKING: In a win for public schools & educators, a court rejects Trump-Vance adminโ€™s assault on public education as unconstitutional.

This decision in our case proves the admin's attempt to weaponize federal funding & require compliance w/ their flawed interpretation of civil rights is unlawful.

More (?) importantly, this is the exact reasoning that John Roberts used to uphold Tennessee's ban on gender-affirming medical care for minors in June.

The right says there's an issue; the NYT writes about it; lawmakers "debate" it; it becomes law; and Roberts says, "Well, there is a debate!"

democrats are going to be dealing with anti-trans hate until they either

- nut the fuck up and defend these people from bigoted attacks

- concede to every republican attack on the issue, inevitably leading to the total eradication of trans people from all public life

literally the only 2 options

I keep thinking of Brad Lander's "fighters and folders" line from Cancel Me Daddy a couple weeks ago. Dem voters want fights right now. What Pete, Gavin, and Rahm are signaling is they're willing to fold on this issue.

Dem voters are simply wondering what else they'll fold on and want none of this.
