yes! maybe we take for granted that almost every magic card is used. what else in our lives do we unequivocally buy that is previously owned? so cool to imagine the lineage.

I got into Legends of Runeterra for a minute and one day I logged on and I had a deck that didn't function remotely the way it did the day before, and I logged off forever. Magic being ever-changing but not being all that agile in changing is a huge part of the game's beauty.

i've been thinking about how magic could never, ever be founded post-2005ish, that it had to be made exactly before the internet but grow and flourish through it, and its main logistical drawback (physical cards) will become its most enduring quality against an increasingly ephemeral digital era.
