The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

The democratic senators did stall the nominations for months and vote against them - but then the republicans used the nuclear option and managed to approve everyone in a single vote.

I saw the musical Jagged Little Pill (all Alanis songs, and she was a producer), and when they got to that song - in a classroom scene - several students interrupted and explained how the instances weren’t ironic. They sang it anyway, and I was glad they all had a sense of humor about it.
