Does Nigel Farage have a problem with women?
Professor @heejungchung.bsky.social says that Farage’s recent rhetoric around - and treatment of women is part of a worrying trend that delegitimises discussion of gender inequality and women’s rights.

"Trying to compete with Reform not only feels inauthentic... but a betrayal of what Labour is supposed to represent. We must address the concerns and fears of voters, not play on them."
Damning stuff from Sadiq Khan

And again, this is feeding the same sentiment -
You know what's funny- but totally not funny. Recent UK by election reform has talked about voting fraud. South Korean Conservative party and the far right part also talking about voter fraud and The OG of course is D Frump himself.
It seemed like there's a playbook they share? a shared what's app?
Reform could gain another MP this Thursday. That's why we're urging Labour, Lib Dem, & other party supporters to lend their vote to the Greens this time in Gorton & Denton. We've carried out extensive research and it points to this being our best chance of stopping a very real threat from Reform.
This one hits hard.

That gap.
32% see immigration as one of the most important issues facing Britain — more than any other issue.
Just 4% see it as something that's important in their own life — one of the lowest shares, and a fraction of the numbers for inflation or the NHS.
A new study by @ucl.ac.uk Equalise member @baowenxue.bsky.social, in collaboration with King's College London and @citystgeorges.bsky.social, reveals gender disparities following a major reform designed to make flexible working more accessible.

🛠️🇨🇭Swiss job ads are moving beyond the ‘ideal worker’ norm: A new study from @uzh.ch and @giwlkings used machine learning to analyze 20+ years of job adverts, revealing early signs of a cultural shift: more emphasis on flexibility, gender equity, and work–life balance.

we hope that this paper can provide theoretical framework for others when exploring the ideal worker culture to see how such culture and changes in such cultures shape work outcomes. We did this for part-time preference where we see our cultural norms make a difference. (graph below for men)
The results shows that work devotion culture is slowly declining - masculinity at work on the other hand, is a bit slower to move. While, dual/plural devotion is rising quite a bit, as is degendering natures of work cultures across occupations. Also there seems to be some convergence
What is more, we go beyond the descriptive norms - e.g. hours of work people do and number of women in leadership positions - and look at injunctive norms - namely through job adverts. We consider ads as a window into what employers want in workers. We do this through machine learning techniques
Firstly - unlike previous papers, we examine the ideal worker culture as a multidimensional item where it is on the one hand about whether we allow workers single (only to work!) or multiple devotions (work and private life) and whether work cultures are masculine or more de-gendered.
So happy to have our paper with Jan Mueller published in Gender Work & Organisations. It theorises the multidimensionality of the ideal worker culture to ask the question, do we see a move away from it. The results in Switerland says yes - but only certain aspects. www.kcl.ac.uk/news/job-adv...
Oh I felt something similar when I was on BBC radio 4 panel talking about work culture. I'm sorry you experienced this.
