#Frontierairlines I paid for my carry on bag and they had so many people in zone one that half of us had to gate check. What a scam. Also both flights were delayed. #neveragain #poorcustomerservice

Several years ago I posted that for every book of oppression we give a kid we need to give them 20 books of joy. Then Reycraft published my story about a family reunion that goes off the rails. Join the Johnson family in ‘The Get Together.'

One thing for Senate Democrats to do is announce they will use every tool at their disposal to block Bondi’s nomination until DOJ appoints a special counsel (ideally with beefed up firing protections) to investigate the widely reported crimes committed this week by Musk and his band of DOGE goons.

Here's a list of the members of the senate finance committee. They have oversight over the Dept of the Treasury. If one of these people is your senator, please contact them & remind them you didn't vote for Musk, they didn't approve Musk, & he has no business taking over ANY government entity.

"...a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism — ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power."

If I see one more democrat talk about bipartisanship bs, I’m gonna lose my mind! There is no such thing when dealing with autocrats! 😡 Are you listening, elected Dems? @housedemocrats.bsky.social

The "Is this a successful coup??" question revolves in some ways around if Musk has diehard loyalists outside of a few teenage boys he wanted to impress in a Discord. Trump obviously has loyalists, but Musk?

I don't have high hopes, but I don't think this question is fully answerable right now.

This is not true, and it’s very important to understand that it’s not true because it lessens the difficulty of what was achieved and the effort it took to achieve it. Have you ever seen how many exhibits were involved in the litigation of Brown v Board? Over 1000. Change was a push, not a gift.

okay but you aren’t

again, you could be shutting down all senate business by denying every single unanimous consent request, you could be down at Treasury with cameras, you could be doing something other than issuing strongly worded statements

your actions have to match what’s happening

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

Curious how we keep hearing about people surprised by this and not the many who saw this coming a mile away.

"No one ever thought this would happen" is dishonest and journalists not pointing that out are doing you all a disservice. Many people said word for word this would happen. You just didn't respect those people. And you need to be honest instead of the feigned surprise for sympathy.

Democrats aren’t powerless against Trump’s blitzkrieg power-grab.

Senate rules are designed to protect the rights of the minority and Democrats have tools at their disposal to grind Senate business to a halt if Republicans try to ram through Trump’s extremist agenda: indivisible.org/resource/how...

An interesting thing about coups that I remember @naunihal.bsky.social telling me years ago:

Coup plotters never say “we are taking control of the government”.

They say “we are ALREADY IN CONTROL of the government”.

It’s a crucial lie.

Jasmine Crockett: "The problem is that Americans thought it was okay to take a full fledged criminal and make him the President of the US and then they want to act aghast when he does criminal things. Let me tell you, we have a thug in charge of the US and if we don't wake up we may not have a US"

MAGAS Lost the Election, Too. They Just Don't Know it Yet. There is joy in MAGAville right now.

Soon, and very soon, they’re going to feel the crushing weight of objective reality come smashing down upon their red hats, as the truth that cannot be covered over by Fox News fictions or GOP spin doctors becomes terrifyingly clear: they have lost, too.

So we’ve moved to the next stage. Either an incompetent Black person is to blame, or a white person who was made incompetent by the stress of working with a Black person.

Using Military Jets for Deportations Is an Ugly, Wasteful Spectacle The intimidation is the point.

The type of airplane being used for a deportation flight might seem like a tiny, pointless detail, but it points to the administration's viewpoint of the role of the military in domestic affairs:

DCA crash puts Trump's appalling unfitness on full display When crisis hits, he makes it worse.

"Govt is important. We need it to regulate a whole range of things. When it fails in those functions, people die. That Trump is indifferent to his responsibilities & incompetent means we can expect more deadly accidents in every aspect of society regulated by the federal govt-
which is all of them"
