I study plant community development and mutualistic interactions between plants, fungi, and bacteria in response to anthropogenic disturbance and climate change. Botanist, mycologist, lichenologist, musician, lover of all things wild and free.

Anyone who works in the Arctic has seen this in real time. This is a great write up for those who donโt have tuffs on the tundra.
12.05.2025 17:16 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Over forty years, research spanning the Canadian Arctic, Alaska, and Scandinavia has shown significant alterations in Arctic vegetation as a consequence of climate variations. Around 60% of the locations examined in the study have witnessed a shift in plant species composition.

09.05.2025 17:31 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0K. That is about PAPERS/ARTICLES. There is no mention of a textbook and does not support your initial post in any way. The use of AI in articles is an issue we are all aware of and constantly working to combat. You are not helping by spreading false information.
09.05.2025 16:16 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0So a vague statement of how you had a โreliable sourceโ and a โwell known scientific journalโ without naming either and an article from some offhand AI blog site as the original post? Yeah totally checks out. lol

09.05.2025 15:55 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0In tundra ecosystems, roots donโt stop growing when the leaves do โ they keep growing late into the season. We found that plant community type drives these below-ground patterns. Graminoids especially show a big late-season growth pulse ๐ฑ Check our our new GCB paper!

I could not find evidence, aside from this post, that this is real. You canโt name the well respected source and well known scientific journal?
As a scientist I despise the use of AI in publications, but I also despise false claims about reputable sources doing it.
K. So, this is fake. Way to proliferate the spreading of bullshit.

I'm honored and excited to announce that I will be joining the Alaska Biological Research team as a Plant Ecologist and Rehabilitation Specialist this summer!

4 12x18 inch posters on a brick and concrete wall. The top left is pink and says funding science saves lives, written in microbes, next to a microscope. The one on the right says Biology is bigger than binaries, with a fish, a lily, and a bee. The bottom left says Protecting wildlife starts wtih you, with a bunch of adiorable woodland creatues in yellow, white and black, including an owl, fungi, a... um. weasel? salamanders, butterflies, slugs, and a rotting log. The bottom right says Will our oceans thrive or nosedive the choice is yours, with the ocean represented in a circle, half of which is dead and half of which is alive, including kelp and a mackerel

4 artists & 3 scientists collab'd on these posters. We hope YOU will put them out in your community. Each poster comes w/info about each topic.

I will be happy to help with this! Iโm moving in a couple months and will start after that. Iโm also actively working on updating the lichenometric curves for the Arctic so Iโll be taking repeat measurements of many arctic/alpine pioneer saxicolous lichens.
