There it is. The first ever Heat Advisory issued in Alaska. This is the first year it has been an option. @alaskawx.bsky.social
He should prove his intellectual superiority to the "experts". Let him drink!
I'm on board with you 100%. All this is insanity is going to audibly backfire soon. Unfortunate he had to drag his grandchildren down with him...
For friends who teach microbiology...why not integrate some current events into your discussion about microbial human pathogens?

Anyone who works in the Arctic has seen this in real time. This is a great write up for those who don’t have tuffs on the tundra.
Over forty years, research spanning the Canadian Arctic, Alaska, and Scandinavia has shown significant alterations in Arctic vegetation as a consequence of climate variations. Around 60% of the locations examined in the study have witnessed a shift in plant species composition.
The transition is now complete
Thank you
Arctic climate will permanently change by 2050, scientists warn #EarthDotCom #EarthSnap #Earth
K. That is about PAPERS/ARTICLES. There is no mention of a textbook and does not support your initial post in any way. The use of AI in articles is an issue we are all aware of and constantly working to combat. You are not helping by spreading false information.
So a vague statement of how you had a “reliable source” and a “well known scientific journal” without naming either and an article from some offhand AI blog site as the original post? Yeah totally checks out. lol
Also pivot-to-ai.com is not a “reliable source”
I could not find evidence, aside from this post, that this is real. You can’t name the well respected source and well known scientific journal?
As a scientist I despise the use of AI in publications, but I also despise false claims about reputable sources doing it.
K. So, this is fake. Way to proliferate the spreading of bullshit.
Any fellow fungiphiles looking for a PhD position working with a great mentor @tanyacheeke.bsky.social on a really cool project amongst old growth Cedar and young Pine? Check this out! msoa.mcjobboard.net/jobs/188087?...
Here are a couple photos of the working groups I was part of: the Circumpolar Arctic Vegetation Science Initiative (CAVSI) and the Polar Early Career World Summit (PECWS)
#LatePost - time has been flying. I was honored to participate in the #ASSW2025 conference in Boulder Colorado including, #ICARP-IV, #CAVSI, and #PECWS workshops in late March.
This meeting restored my wilting hope for conservation of Arctic ecosystems by those who care and depend on them.
As an #ArcticPlantEcologist and #EarlyCareerScientist, caring for the planet and teaching others about ecology IS #Resistance
I'm honored and excited to announce that I will be joining the Alaska Biological Research team as a Plant Ecologist and Rehabilitation Specialist this summer!

🚨 Cool new project alert 🚨
WE- you, me, everyone- need to work together to get important science messages out to people.
4 artists & 3 scientists collab'd on these posters. We hope YOU will put them out in your community. Each poster comes w/info about each topic.

Could you expand on what you mean by “working grief”? I’m not sure I fully understand

Anyone else heading to Arctic Science Summit Week 2025 in Boulder? Excited to be involved in planning research priorities for the next 10 years of Arctic research, participating in the Polar Early Career World Summit, and participating in indigenous focus groups!

I will be happy to help with this! I’m moving in a couple months and will start after that. I’m also actively working on updating the lichenometric curves for the Arctic so I’ll be taking repeat measurements of many arctic/alpine pioneer saxicolous lichens.
I went with this “LoveBEIDI” case. It seems sturdy. We’ll see how it handles a 4 day long ski trip/music festival this weekend!
ALL my botanical survey work this summer has been halted indefinitely. This work monitors recovery of ecosystems post disturbance which provide important habitat and ecosystem services that keep soils stable, and clean water and air. This work is disappearing in the US under authoritarian regime.
Anyone try oak tree or casebus yet?

I had one on my last phone and feel like it was almost a knock off lifeproof
So cool! More of this kind of work should be happening so we can better constrain growth rates of various saxicolous lichens and assess how they are being affected by disturbance and climate change. Thanks for sharing!
