As a sicko NU fan can I pitch that the Northwestern should be higher? I believe if they lose and Indiana wins, Indiana and Northwestern pull into a tie for most losses all time at 715. (Though someone on the committee should fact check me/wikipedia)

I mean if it were FPTP you could also rank neither. But if it comes down to Adams vs Cuomo I am saving my 5th spot for one of them to stop the other

Restaurants are expected to have their own parking. No parking is their fault they must be told about. No one expects them to extend a bus line to them

Feels like this is just to make the licensing bill look reasonable

My strongest held football take is the spongebob superbowl was amazing and should be done every year and the disney ones where they animate the players are bad

Declining infant mortality rates still matter even if other things are trending poorly. We are not doomed as a society.

The underlining thesis that the world is better than people think is still right and I would bet child mortality is lower in 2027 than it was in 2022. Though we shall see

Ah good catch. At least for infants, still down in the last 20 years

Fred data using the world bank also shows a decline. fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/?g=1tv...

Also the question was asking about changes in the past 20 years, and I bet CDC still shows that going down but I am unsure how to use the CDC tool to get that.

Going from 0.7% to 0.6% in the US the past decade is still huge. And it went from about 4.7% to 3.7% globally.

Is there a source on the survey?

Thank you! And because we are looking at 1 km^2 grid cells, the PW weighted density adjustment you do is a relatively moot point for determining this right?

@kavi.bsky.social is there a good explainer on urban stats for how urban centers are calculated? I know from older tweets it is broadly about consistent levels of density, but would love to learn more as it is a great way of actually describing cities

Last night I dreamed I had an uncomfortable dinner with eric adams. Truly, my brain is poisoned.

How is the weather weighted for population? Feels like that doesnt matter for small places, though I guess it is the same question format for places like Texas and Alaska?

Please tell me you have seen the fastpass documentary. Mandatory viewing for people interested in disney parks or the allocation of scarce things

It is too much to ask people to follow odd year elections period.

Not a moral statement, statement of fact. It doesnt work.

Ideally, put everything on the same presidential 4 year cycle. 4 year terms for representatives, abolish the senate (or make them ceremonial).

Appoint judges via a position elected by the same population who currently elects judges to be clear. Don't want the Wisconsin legislature picking their supreme court, it should be the governor

I agree with this, but if this pitch is "register as a democrat to oust adams" it would be better to know who is running against him

Long term it does, not that people feel it. It make certain projects unprofitable which means they dont happen.
