Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Minneapolis (Official Audio) YouTube video by Bruce Springsteen

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Finally #EAPC2025 starts! The World Congress for #PALLIATIVECARE was planned in #HELSINKI for 2021 but was postponed due to the #pandemic. That it starts now here feels soothing … Looking forward to a great program, to meeting more than 2000 colleagues from all over world and to enjoying Helsinki!

What Does “Palliative” Mean? Sentiment, Knowledge, and Public Perception Concerning Palliative Care on the Internet since the COVID-19 Pandemic | Palliative Medicine Reports Background: Little is known about the public perception of palliative care during and after the pandemic. Assuming that analyzing online language data has the potential to collect real-time public opi...

In the #internet and #socialmedia discourse the #CoViD #pandemic had a negative impact on the perception of #palliativecare. Negative stereotypes increased, e.g. palliative care is increasingly seen as a synonym for end-of-life care!

I witnessed a peaceful death—it made me question our approach to dying Why do people here know so little about what ordinary or natural dying looks like?

Our common denominator is that in our field much better evidence is needed! Let`s strive to confirm or question our own #palliativecare paradigms. Not everything we learned from cancer may fully apply to other diagnoses. Note: Clemens et al, cited by Gallagher R.,studied exclusively cancer pts.

We have to be critical towards our own #palliativecare paradigms!

The evidence for #opioids for breathlessness in #heartfailure is questionable. A recent review states that „it may only be the very last option if other options have failed or in case of an emergency.“

Dementia patients in palliative care according to data from the German National Hospice and Palliative Care Register (2009–2021) | BMC Palliative Care

Are #PalliativeCare needs in patients with #dementia under-recognized?

The low number of dementia diagnoses in the German Hospice and Palliative Care Registry could be due to barriers to accessing specialized services for people with dementia.

Lets not forget this group!

@j-palliativemed.bsky.social Pain and dyspnea were more severe in patients with hyperactive delirium than those without delirium. The presence of hypoactive delirium was not associated with a greater severity of physical symptoms www.liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/...

👓 Interesting read 👓

Prevention and screening are the most powerful tools to reduce mortality from #cancer.

In analogy prevention and screening are powerful tools to reduce unnecessary suffering in (cancer) patients with #palliativecare needs!
