I do get a lot of resistance every so often from folks that I don’t really understand.

One of my colleagues was shocked that I was only four years younger than him and not 25… and I wonder how much people reading me as very young affects how I’m perceived and treated professionally as someone with a lot of authority and a big title.

I did not buy enough snack variety for my snack bed. Rookie mistake.

Should I get more snacks?

Mine was too… like 10 years ago when she imparted this wisdom.

I once followed a flight attendant on Instagram and I’ll never forget the advice she shared:

When you travel for work always get two double beds. Make one bed the bed you sleep in and the other bed your Snack Bed.

Genius level shit.

Exactly. And all this over a $20 canvas that she didn’t confirm she wanted or was picking up but somehow felt entitled to enough to destroy my algorithm for the last several weeks.

He did confirm 1.5 hours before she did. And I had no guaranteed way to keep him from coming since he doesn’t check messages and had our address already. She’s mad that I sold it to him and claimed I was shady as I had a deal with him when I spoke to her (after the man was a no show Tuesday).

An old man who was supposed to come pick up the item the night before and didn’t show up them messaged to say he would be there that evening (Wednesday) at 5:45 in reply to whether he still coming Tuesday night. He was obviously confused and doesn’t check marketplace much. He was driving 1.5 hours

This is what she believed constituted us “having a deal.” She said “probably” and that she would “have to confirm”. At no point did she even say she would definitively take the item. At no point did she confirm a pickup time. She was just suggesting times that could work for her if she bought it.

I sell things on fb marketplace because I support a disabled family member. My algorithm has been off lately and so I investigated.

Turns out some woman who was 1.5 hours later than someone else confirming gave me a 1 star defamatory review saying we had a deal & I sold it from her. We had no deal.

He was like, “No, I don’t need that,” and his wife was like, “what are you talking about. It’s been a nightmare and it’s finally over. Ship us the bell. We’ll take it.” Lol.

We’re going to get on FaceTime with them when he rings it.

My father in law is completing his cancer treatment this week and I insisted on shipping him a vintage bell to ring to mark the occasion since he doesn’t get to ring a bell at the cancer center.

We all need ritual and ceremony.

Right? That’s the exciting part but also they told us later it’s still another 2-3 weeks. Lol. So many hoops.

She also was like “I could have printed this out myself” and I just think if you own a large sized industrial printer at your home maybe use that and don’t buy prints on marketplace. 🤷‍♀️

You can kind of see faint boxes but they aren’t regular so might just be craquelure from the age of the original painting. That also can look geometric.

Imagine digitally manipulating photos of a print to show pixelation not visible to the human eye, demanding a refund and then threatening to have someone arrested for it? Because THEY’RE the scammer.

This woman threatened to get me arrested (wouldn’t have happened but she wanted to and 100% believed she could!) because I was such a scammer for selling this clearly low quality 40x30” print to her and refusing to send her a transfer back cause that’s a common scam.

So, we exchanged the item for another item today and we could not reproduce her images showing pixelation. We came close getting 1 inch away from the canvas, zooming in 2x AND playing with the lightness settings.

Generous but also this woman threatened to return irate to my home last night with the enormous print. I was afraid of property damage. Or violence. I have had no issues with doing exchanges where I live (there’s always a dude home and my neighbours (a friends) dog but this is making me rethink.

But did we celebrate? No.

we had to deal with this insane person with no sense of personal responsibility or boundaries who threatened to return to our home last night.

Our house is a mess because we tried to find things we hadn’t listed yet. And yesterday when this woman’s own mistakes and fit came and butted into our lives, we found out my husband had finally gotten his counselling license!

Anyways I had to block her and give her my husbands number since things are wild at work and I don’t have time for this bullshit.

We agreed to an exchange. But because I refuse to unblock her, my husband had to send her photos of every single thing we have listed basically.

She also carefully inspected it before buying it. She even narrativized her inspection. She didn’t notice it. It’s not noticeable.

She also was like “I could print this out myself. And I thought if you have an industrial printer that can handle 40 x 30 prints why the fuck are you buying from me??

Like I LITERALLY wrote articles aimed at consumers about how to avoid scams. Literally. And escalation and flipping out is actually part of the scam if you don’t send the money back right away. They pressure you to do it. That’s part of why the scam sucks. It’s so DRAMATIC.

So while I’d likely offer a refund just to be nice if she had paid with cash there’s no way I can do then. She flips her shit and calls me a scammer and says she’s going to the cops and I should expect a call from them.

I say that I doubt it since I’m doing what they recommend to avoid scams.

None of my photos show pixels. I tell her I’ve never been asked for a refund and since she paid with a transfer there’s no way I can give her money back without the risk that it might be reversed later due to the account being hacked. Had a friend that happened to recently.

The print is not up to the level of quality her husband would want and she claimed I “misrepresented” it. All I said was it was in the Night Agent and its size. I never noticed an issue with the quality and neither did my partner.

She zooms up close and shows pixels tho. But I’m not sure how close

Been dealing with a nightmare from Marketplace. I sold a huge print (40” tall) featured in a Netflix show (the night agent) for $75. Pretty reasonable. Woman inspects it closely since her husband is “picky.” Meets her needs. Great. She pays.

Then texts when she gets home demanding a refund.
