Yes, the chapters are follow different characters, and it definitely captures a lot of different perspectives of the same event! The full book is less than 300 pages as well iirc

I hope one of them will work out! Human Acts is fiction but it is based on actual historic events and there’s a pretty popular Korean movie called Taxi Driver that also depicts the same event

My recommendations are Human Acts by Han Kang or Almond by Won-Pyung Sohn. I’m not 100% sure if they are suitable for that age group, but I feel like the content and themes are comparable to The Kite Runner which I read in my high school English class when I was 16 so I think they could work
