You have to remember that windmills are the natural enemy of golfers. That’s why Trump hates them so much.

There was an air of seriousness in the House of Commons. Over the weekend, great events had taken place: the sweeping away of the hated Ali Khamenei from Iran, and of the scarcely less-hated Labour Party from Gorton and Denton.

Earlier in the day, Kemi Badenoch had made a heroic attempt to link the two issues, claiming that Keir Starmer’s reluctance to get involved in Donald Trump’s attack on Iran was because he feared upsetting Muslims. As though there aren’t any British Muslims who are glad to see the back of Khamenei, or indeed any other reason why a Labour prime minister would be nervous about a Middle Eastern regime-change operation run by a US president without a plan. However bad a job you might feel Starmer is doing, Badenoch speeches are a reminder that things could be worse.

Absolutely insane story about a middle-aged woman from Hertfordshire who got arrested, shackled, and detained by ICE and held in a prison for eight weeks.... while on holiday... with a valid tourist visa... as she tried to leave the country.

OTD in 2022 George Galloway released one of the absolute, all-time classics.

He has yet to delete it, show humility, or confirm/deny if this means he in fact being paid to act like an idiot, or if he just does it free.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

What’s happening in America is technofascism. It could happen here Peter Thiel's data surveillance company Palantir is powering Trump's ICE operation in the US. Carole Cadwalladr argues that the UK will be next

NEW: What’s happening in the US is TECHNOFASCISM.

It’s fascism + surveillance technologies. Palantir is playing a central role. And the UK is next in line.

The film itself has the air of an expensive corporate video. Like everything involving Trump, there is cross-promotion. We are shown that Mar-a-Lago has a pool and a golf course and tennis courts, and then Melania tells us that Mar-a-Lago has a pool and a golf course and tennis courts. You too can enjoy a visit to Mar-a-Lago, with its pool and golf course and tennis courts, at low, low rates. Assuming you don’t get arrested on your way into the country.

Melania, a producer on the film, delivers a narration that is flat and expressionless, neatly matching her face, which is remarkably smooth for her 55 years. It is also weirdly immobile throughout: it is a good hour before the camera catches what seems to be an actual feeling, a look of nerves as she prepares on the morning of the inauguration.

There is one faintly candid interview, as she sits in the back of the car, discussing her love of Michael Jackson. β€œHe was very sweet,” she said. β€œVery nice.” It’s possible that Mrs Trumpisn’t

Melania is a film that may end up being shown to a jury, though not at Cannes. I watched it so you don't have to. thecritic.co.uk/an-e...

Tory MP Simon Hoare has given a very vivid quote about Donald Trump's comments on Nato allies, which could actually be used in many contexts about the US president:

"Frankly Trump makes my flesh creep and my stomach turn. Where are his advisors? Where is his nurse? Where is his sense of shame?"

Why is Donald Trump changing his mind every five minutes and saying completely mad stuff an embarrassment for Keir Starmer? It feels like it should chiefly be seen as an embarrassment for the United States.
