The focus here is on winning but I don’t have confidence in the Dem establishment to actually stick to its values. What even are Democratic values now?Whether it is candidates with Nazi tattoos or all the consultants banding together to throw trans (and other marginalized people) under the bus with a shitty open report, I’m not sure the dems are a party I want to associate myself with. Y’all are definitely better than Trump but beyond that I don’t know what you stand for. You talk about building a big tent but there are limits. I don’t want to be part of a tent that includes people that think that people I know and love shouldn’t have basic rights. How about we start with a clear establishment of what the values of the dem party are and go from there? I’m also still sticking to my guns on not donating until and unless I see change in the party leadership. There has to be room for new voices. I’d love to see the party learn from and boost new talent like, say, Mamdani instead of fighting those people tooth and nail. I’m sure that there will be a bit of a blue wave after the trauma that Trump is putting everyone through. But what happens after that? If its more Biden like leadership that doesn’t move things forward and tries to return to a world that no longer exists then we’ll end up back where we are. I know that much of this is out of your control. But you are in the unenviable position of being the face of an organization that you don’t have a lot of control over.
