Excellent π§΅ on this evening's NIH announcement of a dramatic reduction in indirect rates for research institutions, which amounts to a generational restructuring of the US research and development ecosystem. These cuts are effective immediately, not just for new grants but for existing ones.

One of my favorite moments in my post-1945 US history course is getting to teach students about neoliberalism using clips from Milton Friedmanβs ten part 1980 PBS series Freedom to Choose, with a title sequence eerily similar to Stranger Things excepts instead of monsters it is neoliberalism
