I only drove in an actual car 2x in DE, we spent most of our time in a simulator, a low-fi set up in a trailer in my HS parking lot. During 1 of 2 driving lessons it was pouring, I was on I-235, & my teacher said, “You’re hydroplaning.”
“IS THAT BAD? What should I do?”
“It’s just an observation.”

Three house sparrows are enjoying a heated bird bath. One is in motion dunking and spinning its head while two others look on, one is very fluffed up. The bird bath is dark green, resting on a cedar stand, and the ground surrounding it is covered in snow.

At today’s meeting of the Hot Tub Club the motion that ice needs to abolished was passed with a unanimous vote.

It’s ideal duck making snow out there today.

1. My dad took me to see Lady & the Tramp in the late 70s & when it was over I asked if we could watch it again & he said of course, so we stayed in our seats and waited for it to start up again. 2. I saw A History of Violence in Harvard Sq. & two guys got into a fight & cops had to drag them out.

I’ve been on daily zyrtec for 2 decades and I STILL occasionally wake up in the middle of the night sneezing like a metronome & the only thing that stops it is Benadryl. Usually a hard freeze tamps down my allergies BUT NOT THIS YEAR. So I’ll be right there with you, clutching my Benadryl stockpile.

Also! If you have access to an indie pharmacy (I know, they're rare, but they *do* exist), they are much less likely to ask questions. I qualify under the exemptions due to a health issue, but nobody asked me about it when I got mine a couple of weeks ago.

Good advice for (under 65) immunocompromised folks whose docs want them to get the high dose flu shot. Big chains like CVS have no way to override standing orders & won’t even accept a doctor’s rx for something allowed but outside their corp. parameters. Indies are willing to help find a solution!

I definitely read a lot of Encyclopedia Brown, but the only thing that sticks with me was when he made a duplicate key by pressing it into a bar of soap? Or carving it out of soap? Soap was involved.

How do I train a neighborhood bird to come with me on my walks so they can eat the bug that aggressively and repeatedly bumps into my face every time I hit the shady part of the walk?

I rented it from the video store I worked at knowing nothing about it back in the 90s, watched it, REWOUND THE TAPE and watched it again. It’s in my top ten favorites for sure. I loved the opening credit design, I loved the acting, I loved the cocktail party geese, the sexiness of the word passport.

What if it had one of those BYO container bulk sections grains/flour/detergent? That could be like 1/16 of the store. Definitely need a 3D printer and a laser cutter you could book time on and use. Anyways this is how I try to redirect my brain sometimes. Impossible retail business plans.

This rite aid has a door to a mini parking lot where the pharmacy is in the back of the store, so you could fence in that parking lot and make it into a beer garden? And what if it was 1/3 hardware store 1/3 craft store 1/3 kitchen supply store! And it had a kitchen that could host cooking classes?

But you could also rent sewing machines and sergers and grommet setters! And on the weekends they would host fix it workshops where you could bring in whatever you had that was busted or had a hole in it and provide the tools/supplies for you to fix yourself. Like a part time maker space classroom?

First I was thinking hardware store. But like a good old fashioned city style one that has every type of screw/bolt/rubber gasket imaginable sold individually in those little metal pull out drawers. And then I thought what if it was 1/2 hardware store 1/2 craft fabric store!

One of my favorite games to play is “what business will take over the building from the latest bankruptcy casualty?” This time it’s the rite aid within walking distance of my house and my fantasies about what the space might turn into have become increasingly unhinged. It started out reasonable?

We all rely on a vaccinated community. But especially people who are older and/or immunocompromised because vaccines just don’t work the same way for those folks. Taking the choice away from “healthy” folks who want the vaccine to protect themselves AND others is deranged. It’s malpractice.

Walks continue to be helpful for tamping down rage, but watching and photographing the yard bunnies when I got back home really heightened the decompression.

A close-up photo of an eastern cotton tail rabbit with tawny fur. Their right ear has a little notch, and the fur just above their eyes is much darker than the rest of their fur giving the illusion that this particular bun has Levy-esque eyebrows. Taken from a safe distance with a zoom lens whilst hanging out of a small garage window.

WAIT. What if the vaccine manufacturers rebrand the updated Covid vaccines as “supplements”? Then they can run non-stop ads touting their proven ability to keep people alive & let us sign up by texting MAVA to a # on our screen. Get washed up pro athletes to say stuff like “she’ll like living too!”

Working there meant I would find ornament glitter in my hair from August to January. The buyers ordered all the ornaments in like February, and they’d start arriving at the store in July and we had to get them set up and on the sales floor before Columbus Day. Bet that all black tree was cool tho.

When I worked at Crate&Barrel, there was a cautionary tale they used to tell us about their 1st Christmas. They wanted to buy ornaments to sell but they didn’t realize how early you had to place the orders & when they went to Poland to buy them in August, the only ornaments left were gray & black.

Does “do your own research” also mean “manufacture your own vaccine because we’re getting rid of them”? I was kind of hoping paying taxes since I was 14 meant I wouldn’t have to go to medical school in order to make bespoke vaccines for me and mine. Definitely gonna make it bubble gum flavored.

I realize now I may be thinking of a show that only could have existed in the mid 80s and would have absolutely co-starred Jim J. Bullock.
