Trump Administration Calls for Elimination of Federal Agency that Funds Libraries. Photo of White House at night.

Library lovers, we need your help. A recent executive order calls for the elimination of IMLS, the only federal agency that funds libraries nationwide. Without IMLS, many of the resources and programs we love could be at risk.

Show Up For Our Libraries! By eliminating the only federal agency dedicated to funding library services, the Trump administration's Executive Order is cutting off at the knees the most beloved and trusted of American institutions and the staff and services they offer. ALA American Library Association. #ForOurLibraries

🚨NEW🚨: Donald Trump is attempting to strip away federal support for libraries. We will NOT let that happen.

Last night the President signed an order to gut the Institute of Museum & Library Services. But together, we know we can show up & defeat it.

Did you know that some of Eldon Dedini’s Golden Age Comic Books were donated to the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum, along with his artwork and papers? I packed the collection with his son. There were some Golden Age comics there with his brother’s name on the cover as well.

The newspaper comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz originally published December 7, 1989. Marcie, as the French lass, walks by as Snoopy, The World War I Flying Ace, stands with a heart above his head, looking at her and smiling with his front paws clenched to his chest.
Marcie continues to walk by, ignoring him.
Snoopy, now frowning, kicks the heart.

Political cartoon depicting two people in white hoods and robes labeled “KKK” standing on either side of a tree labeled “American Liberty” on its trunk. The two people are chopping into the trunk with axes. Branches of the tree are labeled “The Ballot,” “Free Speech,” “Free Press,” “The Constitution,” “Law and Order,” and “Religious Freedom.”

A 1923 cartoon by Winsor McCay that turned up yesterday in the San Francisco Academy of Comic Art Collection. Thanks to the many generous donors who gave to our crowdfunding campaign, the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum continues to organize, rehouse and catalog the massive collection.
