With cold weather forecast for #reigate next week, I thought I would look at the first frosts of the year.

We are already beyond the average date of the first frost, which is 3rd November (2nd in leap years).

With no #rain in the #forecast for #reigate until Monday 20th, we could be on for the lowest number of rain days from the 1st to 19th October for at least 26 years. The average is 11 days.

The amount of #rainfall would be the 4th lowest that we have recorded for the same period.

#StormAmy is leaving #reigate now but has set a couple of records whilst over our region.

We recorded the windiest October day and also the windiest day of 2025. We recorded a max wind gust of 37.2 mph which was also the strongest for October.

Looking back at July 2025 - it was wet with 50% above avg rain & warm. We recorded +30mm of rain in a single July day for only the 2nd time (previous was in 2000) and we also recorded the 2nd highest rain rate.

The sunshine hours were almost bang on average.

With the temperature dropping to 8.8ºC this morning, it brings to an end the run of 57 consecutive days of +10ºC minimum temperature. This is the 2nd longest we have recorded (records from 2000).

Yesterday's max temp of 19.7°C bought an end to 50 consecutive days of the max temp being => 20°C.

That circled patch of rain bought the 2nd highest #rainfall rate I have recorded of 245.2mm/hr.

The record of 329.2 was registered in September 2024.

It also bought 11.2mm of rain in about 10 minutes and a few rumbles of thunder.

June 2025 had the most days =>32ºC & also the highest mean min temp.

It was the 2nd warmest June with a mean temp of 18.4, just lower than the record of 18.5.

It was the windiest #June with those 2 very windy days on the 22nd and 23rd.

Rainfall was 26% below avg.

I was asked how June 2025 compared with 1976 and here are the results!

It looks to be a draw, with 1976 having more hot days and the higher max temp but 2025 had higher average temperatures for the month.

1976 was drier and sunnier than 2025.

Just about nudged over 34ºC today in #reigate.

Still hot over night (with a min ~19ºC) and then a slightly fresher day tomorrow with a 30-50% chance of rain in the morning before the sun returns.
