Oh wonderful, I've been waiting for it! The first volume is excellent.
I just got my first invite from a predatory publisher. I feel like a real scholar now.
Thanks Alex! I'm currently reading your book (I've already read most of your PhD thesis). It's incredible!
Oh, that's a fascinating tidbit! I've seen just two court cases in newspapers where defendants service in the Army Service Corps is brought up by the prosecutors or police to attack their character.
The bigger project looks at regimental culture in the Army Service Corps from the 1880s-1960s, and tracks how that changes in the shift to mechanical transport, more militarized support forces, and changing ideas about soldiers as men. It's a Phd, so it will be a few years before the book comes out🤞
Thanks! It's so fascinating how much logistical forces is neglected it so many militaries. Seeing the parallels and differences between countries has been a cool part of the broader project I'm working on.
My first peer-reviewed article is in print! "Not Soldiers from a Soldier’s Point of View: The British Army Service Corps and the Boundaries of Martial Masculinities, 1914–1918." www.tandfonline.com/eprint/UDQRH...
