#OTD 3rd July 1855 John Everett Millais, aged 26, and Euphemia "Effie" Gray, age 27, were married.

Her 6-year marriage with John Ruskin had been annulled a year before "by reason of [his] incurable impotency".

On 3rd July 1842 #photographer Godfrey Bingley was born.

Following his retirement aged 42 he took up #photography. He left us with many early photos of prehistoric and historic sites.

This little memorial, possibly grave, at St Katherine's Church, Rowsley, #Derbyshire, of the five men who were killed during the Haddon Tunnel Collapse on the 2nd of July 1861.

The tunnel under the Haddon Hall estate remains but is closed to people and traffic.

#OTD 2nd July 1848 Henrietta Cole Countess de Grey died aged 64. Monument at the De Grey Mausoleum, Flitton, Bedfordshire sculpted by Terence Farrell.

#OTD 1st July 1961 #Diana, Princess of Wales, was born to John, 8th Earl Spencer and Frances Ruth Roche at Park House, Sandringham Estate.

She would have been sixty-four today.

#OTD 1st July 1897 poet Edward Wyndham Tennant was born. Killed twenty years later during the Somme.

30th June 1891 painter Stanley Spencer was born at Cookham, Berkshire. He was the eighth surviving child of William Spencer and Anna Caroline Slack.

Around 30th June 1632 Edward, Baron Vaux, and Elizabeth Howard married 5 weeks after the death of her 1st husband William Knollys, Earl Banbury.

They had been teenage sweethearts; she was compelled to marry the 40 years older William.

Edward believed to be the father of her children with William.

30th June 1360 King John of France, hostage since the 1956 Battle of Poitiers, left the Tower of London to return to France.
He left his son Louis in Calais as security for the ransom; Louis escaped three years later so John voluntarily returned to England as a matter of honour dying 3 months later.

30th of June 1940 the Sunday Pictorial reported the detention the day before of Diana Mitford, Lady Mosley, who was imprisoned at Holloway. In 1941 she and her husband, Oswald Mosley, were imprisoned together, and in 1943, released under house arrest.

#otd Saturday 29th June 1963, around four in the afternoon, President John Fitzgerald #Kennedy, with his sisters Eunice and Jean, visited the grave at St Peter's Church, Edensor, #Chatsworth, #Derbyshire, of his younger sister Kathleen "Kick" Kennedy who had died in a plane crash in 1948.

#otd 29th June 1541 Thomas Fiennes, 9th Baron Dacre, aged 26, was hanged at #Tyburn for the murder of John Busbrig, servant of Nicholas Pelham, on whose land he was poaching.

He was buried at St Sepulchre without Newgate Church.
