This little memorial, possibly grave, at St Katherine's Church, Rowsley, #Derbyshire, of the five men who were killed during the Haddon Tunnel Collapse on the 2nd of July 1861.
The tunnel under the Haddon Hall estate remains but is closed to people and traffic.

Around 30th June 1632 Edward, Baron Vaux, and Elizabeth Howard married 5 weeks after the death of her 1st husband William Knollys, Earl Banbury.
They had been teenage sweethearts; she was compelled to marry the 40 years older William.
Edward believed to be the father of her children with William.

30th June 1360 King John of France, hostage since the 1956 Battle of Poitiers, left the Tower of London to return to France.
He left his son Louis in Calais as security for the ransom; Louis escaped three years later so John voluntarily returned to England as a matter of honour dying 3 months later.

30th of June 1940 the Sunday Pictorial reported the detention the day before of Diana Mitford, Lady Mosley, who was imprisoned at Holloway. In 1941 she and her husband, Oswald Mosley, were imprisoned together, and in 1943, released under house arrest.

#otd 29th June 1541 Thomas Fiennes, 9th Baron Dacre, aged 26, was hanged at #Tyburn for the murder of John Busbrig, servant of Nicholas Pelham, on whose land he was poaching.
He was buried at St Sepulchre without Newgate Church.
