It’s given me a pretty good foundation in organising and putting together that sort of book for sure, but I’ve been thinking about something more regular and more highly curated. Not a million miles off what Dirty Rotten Comix were doing back in the day.

There are some excellent creators involved in this, and comics anthologies are essential to the small press scene and a great way to discover new favourites. Back it if you are able.

I meant to come and find you and pick up the previous volumes at Thought Bubble but never got a chance in the end. Backed this to get all three volumes.

Yep, when establishments group the Beano and X-men with Persepolis and Cages it’s no wonder the public don’t take comics seriously. Not to say Beano and X-Men don’t have merits of their own, but the audiences are so vastly different.

Saw this at the cinema a few weeks back. Curious to know your thoughts.

I think about this a lot. I’ve long thought it starts with the way they are sold. In mainstream bookshops ‘comics’ are treated as one single genre which is an instant turnoff for some people, they should be spread throughout the shop: Maus in the history section, Heartstopper in Romance, etc

Five alarms, each increasingly closer together. Starting about 20 mins apart and the last one down to 5. I know I'm just going to turn off and ignore the first four, but get justifiably annoyed enough by the fifth one that I finally get out of bed.

I think there is still a demand for a higher quality, tactile experience of physical media even when the convenience of the internet is in the palm of our hands. It's not for everyone, but comics never have been. And vinyl sales were higher last year than they have been since 1989.

Does anyone think there is a market for a bi-annual, 50ish page comic anthology featuring a mix of new and established talent? Sort of like what Dirty Rotten Comix was doing five or six years ago. Because I have some ideas.
