a man with gray hair and a beard is smiling with his arms in the air Alt: a man with gray hair and a beard is smiling with his arms in the air

Saw the schedule for Nick at Nite today and they have reruns of FRIENDS.

I thought that’s a pretty modern show to have there, only to realize the shows it had in the ‘90s were from the ‘60s.

Us watching GILLIGAN’S ISLAND reruns in the ’90s is equal to kids today watching reruns of FRIENDS.

Film Review - The Optimist | The MacGuffin Allen Almachar reviews the drama The Optimist, from writer/director Finn Taylor and starring Stephen Lang & Elsie Fisher.

THE OPTIMIST (2023) is yet another standard true life story of survival and empathy. However, the familiarity is balanced by strong performances from Stephen Lang and Elsie Fisher. My review.

Now Cobe Bryant is gone.

Schneider has his work cut out for him this offseason. The unfortunate consequence of being a Super Bowl champion.

Film Review - The Bride! | The MacGuffin Allen Almachar reviews The Bride! from director Maggie Gyllenhaal and starring Jessie Buckley & Christian Bale.

THE BRIDE! (2026) is bombastic in style and thoughtful in its themes. Writer/director Maggie Gyllenhaal swings for the fences, and while the result maybe imperfect, we can't deny the ambition on display. My review.

Film Review - Scream 7 | The MacGuffin Allen Almachar reviews the horror film Scream 7, from director Kevin Williamson and starring Neve Campbell, Joel McHale & Courteney Cox.

Despite the return of original screenwriter Kevin Williamson and star Neve Campbell, SCREAM 7 (2026) ends up being a low point for the long running franchise. My review.

Film Review - The Bluff | The MacGuffin Allen Almachar reviews the action adventure The Bluff, from director Frank E. Flowers and starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas & Karl Urban.

THE BLUFF (2026) strikes a good balance between serious and silly. This is one of those “Turn Your Brain Off For Two Hours” movies and shouldn’t be seen as anything more than that. My review.

Film Review - Dreams | The MacGuffin Allen Almachar reviews the psychological drama Dreams, from director Michel Franco and starring Jessica Chastain & Isaac Hernández.

DREAMS (2025) has themes involving sex, immigration, class division, and power, but doesn’t articulate any of them well on screen. We walk away confused over what it wants to say about anything. My review.

Curious how Michael Mann will approach this. The book was both a prequel and sequel to the original film. DiCaprio and Bale aren't exactly youngins anymore, so it'll be strange to see them player younger versions of the characters, but it wouldn't make sense to see them as older versions either.

Toy Story 5 | Official Trailer | In Theaters June 19 YouTube video by Pixar

I’m going to take a wild guess here, but I think the story will involve the toys trying to find relevance when a shiny newcomer threatens to upend the established hierarchy.

The TOY STORY well will never…ever…run dry.

Film Review - Crime 101 | The MacGuffin Allen Almachar reviews the crime drama Crime 101, from director Bart Layton and starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo & Halle Berry.

CRIME 101 (2026) is not just a stellar crime drama, but a thoughtful examination of time, self-worth, and the nature of violence. This is an excellent picture. My review.

CRIME 101 (2026): Really good! Surface level readings will immediately make comparisons to HEAT, but the film adds enough of a twist to stand on its own, Really liked this one. #Filmsky

Film Review - Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die | The MacGuffin Allen Almachar reviews Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die, from director Gore Verbinski and starring Sam Rockwell, Michael Peña, & Juno Temple.

GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN, DON’T DIE (2026): While I admire the film’s ambition, I was never able to get on its wavelength. It does a lot while preaching to the choir. My review.

Being a local news reporter covering a championship parade is a lose/lose situation, lol. Everybody is drunk, it's hella loud, people are trying to grab your mic to yell crazy stuff, you're getting drenched in alcohol, the feed keeps going in and out, etc.
