I feel like there’s no one in my life who both knows who Kay Poyer is and cares about astrology/my Leo bullshit, so I am putting this on here for all of you

Anyway, the joke with my kid’s name is that my sister wanted me to name him Josephine after Jo in Little Women, but then he was a boy, so I named him Theodore after Laurie.

Aw, yeah, that’s tough! Camp is so expensive. My kid was unsure of it the first year, but now he absolutely loves it.

Was thinking today about how, when I was pregnant, I told my sister that I was considering the name Emile. She said, “well, I’ll only call him Miles Gloriosus if you name the baby that” and she didn’t meant it in a good way.

God, we loved that movie!

Anyway, I never went to camp as a kid, so camp culture is all very new and delightful to me. I love how much 14yo loves it, and the letters home are just priceless. Glad the spaghetti finally has sauce on it!

Also, the same day we got our letter, his camp friend (whose mother happens to be my friend) sent a very similar missive home except that he asked his parents to send the NYT Spelling Bee letters every day. The children yearn for word puzzles, apparently.

They did not get a “rest day just to chill” because they were not, in fact, going on a four day trip (canoeing in the bush). They went on a gruelling five day trip and I cannot wait to hear all the hot goss about it

“I hit the yellow (not quite a bullseye) in archery today. We’re going on trip tomorrow on the [redacted], and we get a rest day just to chill (it’s a 4 day but we have to do 5). The food is also a lot better this year. The spaghetti has sauce now! Your offspring, Theo.”

The full letter reads, “HI Mom and Dad I have realized that I don’t have any deodorant or goggles, so could you please send them. I haven’t done the Connections yet but my cabin mates want to help, so please continue to send them.” 1/2

Got a letter from my kid at camp. It is signed “your offspring, [14yo]”. Teens, man. Anyway, apparently the food is better this year.

Yes you! Was talking to the person who invited us over for a Hanukkah party last year, and told her about the time you did the zoom menorah lighting for Theo. And then that just turned into me talking about your law posts, etc
