Parliament adopts new EU rules to reduce textile and food waste | News | European Parliament On Tuesday, Parliament gave its final green light to new measures to prevent and reduce waste from food and textiles across the EU.

✅ Producers of textiles will now be responsible for financing the collection, sorting, and recycling of clothing, footwear, accessories, linens and more, through new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes to be set up within 30 months of the directive’s entry into force.

✅ By 2030, EU countries must reduce food waste by 10% in processing and manufacturing and by 30% per capita in retail, food services, restaurants, and households, compared to 2021–2023 levels.
