In this month’s column for Wrexham.com, Welsh Labour MS Carolyn Thomas writes: As a Member of the Senedd for the North Wales region, since being elected, I have consistently put forward the case for free or capped public transport fares. This isn’t a radical proposal, it has been implemented across Europe, from Germany to France, and from Luxembourg to Malta.

A letter from Carolyn Thomas, Member of the Senedd for North Wales, to the Foreign Secretary, David Lammy MP. The letter calls for a full arms embargo on Israel, for a widening of sanctions, and for a ban on all trade with illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank. In addition, the letter queries the use of RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, asking for clarity about the ongoing use of the base and whether other states, including Israel, have use of the base.

I have written to the Foreign Secretary calling for a full arms embargo and a widening of sanctions on Israel.

Deaths from starvation and the killing of those queuing for vital supplies represent a new level of cruelty.

Action is needed now to bring those responsible to account.

Back in 2019, as a County Councillor in Flintshire, I launched a Senedd petition calling for buses to be run for people, not profit. It gathered over 3,500 signatures.

Six years later, I am delighted that now, in 2025, Wales has begun the journey back to public control of our buses! 🚌
