Open to all education professionals, we envisage our new community will allow a better recognition and understanding of shared problems and challenges affecting the local region, offering the opportunity to work collectively toward solutions.

And now we turn to our panel discussion. Brilliant and tough questions have been submitted by our KS5 students and teachers. For example:
In your research do you start with the sources or the historiography?
How do you form historical Interpretations and manage academic disagreement? 6/
Our final provocation comes from Dr Joe Merton considering New York City as a node of American imperial power.
Students and teachers will now consider some questions from the speakers and have an opportunity to ask their own questions during our panel discussion. 5/
Now we hear a provocation from Assoc Prof Maria Ryan as she explores the American 'Empire' from the perspective of its overseas Military Bases and American power that it derives from these (harnessing the zeitgeist!) through the lense of considering the US as having a “Pointillist Empire”. 4/
Now Assoc Prof Bevan Sewell explores how the United States became the United States in the Long 19th Century and offering a critique of Manifest Destiny. 3/
Brilliant opening from Assoc Prof Jake Hodder from our UoN School of Geography offering an historical Geography perspective on the notion of an American 'Empire'. 2/
And we're off!

The SSL Study is a valuable body of research & so aligned with our direct observations of L+D work alongside educational leaders. 'Care leadership' is weighty yet often unacknowledged & leaders need trusted, reflective spaces to unpack & explore the complexities of roles. #edusky
