By time we got internet, I’d just been playing it. So coming up with names, on AOL of all places, was hard. But SMRPG to the rescue for name ideas! It didn’t take long to pick my favorite Star Hill resident to become my persona.
Legit one of my favorite games. Not just RPGs. I mean, I even got my online name from it! I’d just recently gotten it and been playing so things in game were fresh in my mind.
Husband got me Switch version which I planned on skipping. Beat the ever living heck out of it, too.
I will admit, I really enjoy research and what I’m doing on my own time. What don't I enjoy? Getting software to work with old technology. DCRs are going to be the end of me. At least SWFs have been easy to deal with.
Pretty much at point that finding things online, unless you are specifically contacted, might be pretty much done. Seems need to start thinking about interviews and all. But even that might be a bit hard. Gotta research and see if we can even find folks. (And that they are willing to!)
I know I’ve put focus on finding CH games, and still kind of do. But same time, I hope we can find maps that we haven’t found yet in their Flash / animated forms.
A previous member of Nintendo’s community? Old hard drives, disks, or discs out there to be checked? Spring is almost here!

It’s so difficult to continue research when Google gets worse and worse. Can we go back to Google when it worked? When it’s algorithm wasn’t garbage? Also finding tv shows and newer games ruining searching too. It never gets easier!

I had a moment of realization the other day. Not that I’m old, because we know that’s true. It’s just that I’ve been on the internet for 29 years this month. That makes me feel older than it should.
It’s interesting in how Camp Hyrule has captivated people. Last few years or so there are at least three, that I know of, videos that came out about it. I guess it’s enough to fill a video without being too much. And it’s a blip in some early internet history which makes it fun.
Always interesting to see videos of Nintendo’s old communities come out. A recent one did for Camp Hyrule. Finishing watching that now. I knew it was in works, but didn’t know when it’d be out until I found it yesterday during my regular internet sleuthing. 🔎 I’m always looking for information.

Gotta admit. While doing research and you have little moments of an epiphany, it’s quite fun. Narrowing down timelines and specific dates. Yesterday had one while just talking casually about the research in Discord. I think I narrowed down a date I'd missed before.

It’s interesting to do Google searches from time to time. “Nintendo NSider” and “Camp Hyrule” are my go-to search terms. Interesting to see how many remember CH and want to talk Zelda more recently. I try to leave my marks where I can. This year a little more quiet though. Time marches on...
About 5 years ago I started scanning Play Meter and have finished all of what I currently have on hand. 392 issues are now preserved on the Internet Archive and the magazines themselves have been sent to @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social for their library. archive.org/search?query...

So I’m unsure if these are that and if they are saved somewhere? I did see a YT video of someone playing Konk. But that’s also under the assumption this is that. I love my new Mac but don’t like not being able to check out these games I have now. >_<
Looking at my two other DCR CH games after yesterday, and I don’t believe they are up. donkey.dcr and kremling.dcr so I’m assuming it is Donkey Konk and Kremling Krunch but can’t be sure. Tried Flashpoint on my new Mac and .. it has given me nothing but issues. But they also don’t say my current OS…
