The intersection of art and technology has always inspired me, so Iβm thrilled to help contribute to the artist community here.
The attention @bsky.art has been receiving is both exciting and intimidating β Iβm always open to feedback/ideas on improving that account and its feeds.
Spent the weekend designing the paperwork Iβm sending with physicals π€

18.01.2024 17:55 β π 14 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0As far as I'm aware certificates of authenticity typically aren't legal documents, they're declarations from the artist or gallery. I imagine its similar here.
I would argue though that they are more secure since NFTs are tamper-proof while COAs and signatures can be forged.
β¦they wouldnβt be seen as the same even though theyβre identical. Only one of them was intentionally released by the original artist.
In a way, thatβs what NFTs do. They ensure that βthis digital work was released into the world by its original creatorβ
Itβs basically just a signature or certificate of authenticity.
Like you could have two identical lithographs created from the same MC Escher etching. But if one was pressed by Escher and the other was pressed 50 years later by someone who ended up with the etchingβ¦
This is kind of a short answer, I was trying to fit it in the character limit. I hope it doesn't come across 'snooty' (not sure if thats the right word π).
There are other benefits too imo, I'm putting together a longer Reddit post on my thoughts. I can share when its done if you're interested.
Digital artists are usually limited to posting their work publicly or working for a corporation, while a painter for example has those benefits but can also peruse a genuine solo career releasing original work to supporters.
I think NFTs bring this "best of both worlds" to digital artists.

The full media is a detailed animation and work like this could only be released digitally as prints or other physical mediums are unable showcase the full work.
I really think NFTs can open doors for some artists.

No AI, yes NFT.
Itβs a little disheartening to see βNo NFTβ (usually) following βNo AIβ on artist accounts here, as if they were similar beasts.
I see NFTs allowing digital artists to release their work in the medium it was created for, which is exciting! I truly believe it can be beneficial when used ethically.
