31.01.2026 13:39 β π 16 π 2 π¬ 6 π 0They're so good!
Created a whole little sub genre of "low rock" around themselves.
This band is some of Morphine and some of Bourbon Princess (who are also worth checking out)

A chart titled "90s Band Alignment Chart" presents a 2x2 matrix with axes labeled "HAPPY" to "SAD" on the horizontal and "ANGRY" to "HORNY" on the vertical. Bands from the 1990s are placed within the quadrants to reflect their musical or lyrical style. Rage Against the Machine is in the top-center for "ANGRY." Deftones is in the top-right for "ANGRY" and "SAD." Alice in Chains and The Cranberries are in the far right for "SAD." Nirvana and Portishead are positioned in the bottom-right of the "SAD" axis. Morphine and Sublime are in the bottom-left of the chart, near the "HORNY" axis. Blink-182 and No Doubt are on the far left, near the "HAPPY" axis. In the center, bands like Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, and Oasis are clustered. A line labeled "sarcasm belt" runs diagonally through the center of the chart.

19.01.2026 01:51 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Morphine was *the best* live band in the 90s, and that no one has even attempted to replicate what they did since is testimony to their greatness. the most criminally overlooked band of the era

30.01.2026 14:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0As a Boston-area ticket-holder to their upcoming show, I am grateful that the surviving members are keeping Mark Sandman's legacy and memory alive. Within the hyper-local Boston scene he loomed large as a friend & mentor to many, many people. Plus, "Cure For Pain" is a top-10 all timer album for me.

18.01.2026 19:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I like the band Morphine, and I was lucky enough to see them live at H.O.R.D.E. fest in like '98.
I had no idea who they were, and they were amazing. Had no idea how lucky I had it until he passed.
At that same festival I saw Ben Folds Five, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and Primus

Triumphant groove & scorching vibrations all the way. Double live dose of Mark Sandman's sublime other band which ran concurrent to #Morphine & also had the mighty Dana Colley blowing sax.

I love this band & wish they were still around. Just 2-string bass, bari sax, drums. Plus a great vocalist.

I recommend the band Morphine. They were a 90βs indie/dark Jazz band that really got overshadowed during the grunge years. Start with Cure for Pain. Itβs probably my favorite album of all time.

I made a playlist of many of my music hyperfixations of 2025, songs I played on repeat at different points in the past year. it was an interesting exercise to put them into a deliberate non-chronological order, february crashing into july into now.

1) Ellison's Paramount stays sucking
2) my all-time fave band Morphine would've never entered my life without them getting an MTV push, and I'm forever grateful
3) how's MuchMusic doing, Canadian neighbors?
Everyone who loved the velvet underground went out and started a band. Everyone who loved Morphine went out and stayed depressed so they do not go out any more.
Itβs me, Iβm the second group.
lol not true!
