Our rural ERs closed regularly because staff are routinely off sick, and still we won't do the simplest no-brainer returns-on-investment (clean air in schools & hospitals) to bring down the levels of mass illness 6 years into a pandemic. It's the most mind-boggling stupidity I've ever witnessed.

I'm still incredibly irate about the headline for this news story from October. Both flu and Covid vaccine up-take was down. In 2024-25 about 30% got a flu shot and less than 19% got vaccinated against Covid.
Can this be a solution?
Not that the 5-12s (circa 2022, so 9-16s now) are much better - in NB we only hit about ~35% of them getting a second dose, back when initial series was 2 doses. NL did much better - had vaccines in schools. How many kids aged 9/10-16 have had 2+ doses? I wonder. They have had more infections.
It’s just wild to think of pretty much every kid in Canada aged 9 and under not getting a Covid vaccine. And out of any population I think they are the most age-stratified. Who do 2-year-olds spend time with? 5- and 8-year-olds? Other young kids. School & activities.

Some very concerning points being raised here.
Not perfect necessarily but heavy-handed about ‘chronic absenteeism’ without any acknowledgement of chronic illness. In my district 5 absences gets you a call from teacher. 10 from principal. 15 from district and threat to suspend.
