The season begins! Tonight's harvest of green zebra, sweet million, sun gold, black grape, gardens delight. Four weeks or so of tom's coming up and lots of experimenting with recipes to see which is the best fit taste wise.

Newly cut stump of large tree in Phoenix Park

More recent dates noting Home Rule, the 1916 rising, end of WWII, visit of Pope in 1979 and the Good Friday agreement that ended the northern “troubles”

Dates aligned to tree rings marking the Fenian Rising and the end of the famine.

The tree began life c1800 - before the Napoleonic Wars, and 17 years before construction began on the Wellington monument nearby.

A large tree was cut down in the Phoenix Park & somebody has marked the key events that it witnessed during its 125 year life. Napoleonic Wars, the Famine, Home Rule, WW1, the Easter Rising, civil war, independence, WW2, “the troubles”, Pope JPII visit, and peace in Northern Ireland. A witness tree.
