Practice truly makes perfect—the further along in your comic you'll get, the better each new page will look.

Color is definitely a big deal, but something I've noticed is that everything is clearly delineated despite the lack of lineart. The same color never overlaps, there's always a shadow or highlight to separate different body parts/objects.

That alone would make a big difference I think.

If you want good Sonic artists to study, Yui Karasuno and Nathalie Fourdraine both pull off a lineless style really well. I just think it's really challenging to do. You said you found your art too "simple" looking, and the style choice is probably a big reason why.

I'm kinda winging it, I'm not a real artist, so I wouldn't take my advice too seriously, but I just relate to the situation.

In the end, it was easier for me to improve at lineart than run away from it. I think my drawings look better now, and it's sped up the process, also.

Your lineless style is pretty also, but I think it's a lot harder to make work than you think.

I say that because I ended up in a weird position myself. I hated my lineart too, so I went with a "sketchy" style to mask it, but it only made things more complicated.

I'm afraid I am! My 3D model of the bedroom helps with the background details, but I really regret putting these LEGO boxes and posters everywhere lol, I have to draw them every time.

One of my favorite little moments between them will always be in TailsTube #1, when Sonic calls Tails "the coolest guy I know", and Tails is flustered and starts stammering. It's adorable.
Love these two little dudes, their bond is something special.
