Itβs hard not to believe that Luxonβs move to dump regional councils isnβt just another way to remove obstacles to rampant corporate profit making at our expense.
More emissions, more pollution more contaminated drinking water, more intensive dairy, more roads and less accountability.

Separated Bike Lanes Means Safer Streets, Study Says β Streetsblog USA
Cities that build protected lanes for cyclists end up with safer roads for people on bikesΒ and people in cars and on foot, a new studyΒ of 12 large metropolises revealed Wednesday.
Another reminder that a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.
ALL ROAD USERS.
And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all.
For sharrows, itβs actually safer to NOT have them.

The government is ending Jobseeker payments to 18- and 19 year olds whose parents earn more than $65,000.
Fun fact: when you have Long Covid but canβt work you have to go on the Jobseeker benefit because GPs canβt say whether youβll still have Long Covid in two years - so teens with chronic conditions are now conceivably navigating absolutely debilitating symptoms while also getting zero govt support ππ«
