Sounds very similar to my experience. Some people only call when there’s a problem. And they’re certainly not going to get out in this heat to do any management. Yet you’ll see their social media accounts claiming they’re beekeepers because they love to pretend!

I know some like that! I end up scraping wax moths out of their hives for them. 🤦🏻‍♂️

It’s pretty obvious when people don’t care. You can see it in their body language and tone of voice. And when they bring up honey, their eyes light up. These are mostly people who have some scheme of how they’re going to do this and that, and then their bees are dead in one year.

A lot of beekeepers I have met only care about honey. They’re bastards in my opinion. It actually disgusts me when people bring up honey. I help people with their bees and when they bring it up, I am always thinking to tell them the bees come first. Keep priorities off honey. If it happens, great.

I feel that. I am vegetarian for ethical reasons. I have had a battle in my head over whether or not I am doing the wrong thing. I’m not sure I can answer that. But my bees are healthy and happy. I figure I can do it, or let someone who doesn’t care do it. But that is not even rational, honestly.

But my point is, I don’t see a problem with you selling honey to take care of them! And you’re a good person who cares, so you’ll do the right thing by them :)

And they can become honey-bound if I don’t take some. I only take if I have to. And they aren’t happy unless they’re producing honey. As long as they’re busy, they’re content. They just have that work ethic!

The way I treat my bees, I consider their honey to be vegan friendly. Because I feed them, plant nectar producing plants, give them the perfect amount of space, propagate them, treat them for pests, etc. Their honey is just a byproduct of them being healthy.

Looking through the public comments regarding HB4 in Texas, and am proud to see the majority of my fellow Texans in the Buda area are against this bill.

Sure, I understand what you’re saying. Or at least I understand it to an extent, I am not saying I understand anything. It’s probably more anecdotal because school opened up my mind. Also smoking pot as a teenager through mid twenties really forced me to realize a lot of things.

White people are living in a little bubble and not experiencing different cultures and understanding that we all have the same goals and care about the same things like family and trying to survive.

I agree with you. But at the same time, an education opens people up to the reality of what the world is. Like for instance, instead of thinking we are born from Adam and Eve or something, to realizing that race is a construct and we are all homo sapiens and we all came from Africa.
