Grey Gardens
The Celluloid Closet
Even though the title pretty much gives it away, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Absolutely riveting story about a truly despicable grifter and liar.
Is your country ruled by an aging megalomaniac whose supporters worship him with an almost cult-like zeal?
Has your leader eroded trust in elections by attempting to bring them under his direct control and/or stoking false claims of voter fraud?
9 years ago today was the Moonlight fiasco at the Oscars. I don’t know if the two situations can be compared, but there is an eerie parallel with the BAFTA incident. What should have been a moment of celebration for Black artists will be remembered instead for how that joy was so cruelly erased.
This is blackberries for me. A perfectly ripe blackberry, just picked and still warm from the sun, is transcendent. Grocery store blackberries are not even in the same category.
Like a bagel!
It’s atmospheric, moody, understated, and strangely hypnotic. The narrative structure is odd and the ending is *not* neat and tidy. And yet it’s still such a comfort watch.
When I was a kid my mom would occasionally get those powdered sugar mini donuts in a plastic sleeve, slice them in half, and toast them until they were crispy at the edges and the sugar made a nice glaze.
“You, sir, have the boorish manners of a Yalie!”
I can’t believe nobody has mentioned Small Town Boy by Bronski Beat! But I’m sure everyone here knows it, so I’ll suggest Jimmy Somerville’s ACT UP anthem instead:

“Winter” would also work!
Also jealous! I legitimately got chills thinking about this.
I could also see Busby Berkeley Dreams as a pairs skate.
I hope that look means that he’s scared enough to sing like a canary.
Let’s say Irish Coffee instead, shall we?

In the 80s, Jesse Jackson spoke up for LGBTQ rights when few other politicians dared. I saw him speak powerfully at the first display of the AIDS Memorial Quilt in ‘87 while Bush Sr refused to acknowledge it. He was ahead of his time in many ways. May he be an example to future Dem candidates.
“Did a large procession wave their torches as my head fell in the basket?
Or was everybody dancing on the casket?
Now it’s over, I’m dead and I haven’t done anything that I want
Or I’m still alive and there’s nothing I want to do.”
His Lady Gaga routine SLAYED me.
Just in case you were wondering where all that USAID money went: Vought is using it to pay for his own security detail. Meanwhile the deaths due to those cuts are approaching one million.
Similar to the family sewage swimming, it just seems so… unnecessary. Surely someone with his wealth and connections could afford a nice silver spoon?
I was stuck on this too! Surely there is a counter or a sink nearby?
That’s Zuckerberg’s wife, a pediatrician who once worked at the same county hospital that I used to work at (and which now bears her husband’s name, though I refuse to call it that). A children’s doctor, sitting next to him at a table full of child predators. I am just sickened.
Post a banger that isn’t in English

Pride, the true story of LGBTQ communists from London who built a coalition with striking Welsh miners based on their shared hatred of Thatcher. 💜
