I'd also like that. Started hacking together a chrome extension so that you can categorize posts (not just your own) and then turn them into a custom feed. Would be cool to build something at the protocol level but i thought this would be easier to start with

I can also point out some limitations with the services that you don't have if you're creating your own feeds. Things that could make your own feed a bit better I nu suppose 😊

That would be cool. Im all for some search/recommendations that goes beyond keywords. The biggest problem i see is that there is often not even a decent description for a feed. Lacking high quality data out of the box

Almost all the feeds are from services, skyfeed being the biggest. From what I've seen there are also many that host their own feeds but it's quite the barrier to enter compared to using a service

Skyfeed is using a cloud provider that had some problems, so maybe that's why it's not working.

You can create a feed that tracks accounts and since the custom feed is created through @tulipsocial.com , it's not tied to you.

Anyone can browse the feed but I'm thinking of making it possible to restrict who has access.

You seem to be on the right track. You'd have to find/create custom feeds that you're interested in. You can browse the feed tab but there are also 3rd party tools/sites that help with finding or creating feeds.

I like it because it lets me be lazy (just scroll one feed) while still consuming the social media that interest me.

It is one of the fascinating things about Bluesky - it doesn't contain an algorithm like TikTok does.

What it offers instead are custom feeds where you yourself can decide your own algorithm. It's not very advanced yet but give it time :)

I think you're right. I sure hope Bluesky will succeed in making it as good as other platforms. But fast or convenient shouldn't be the primary thing that matters.

No, it's not possible in the Bluesky app yet.

You'd have to create a new custom feed that combines other feeds - but it's very simple to do.

You can mute words (for free) under Settings -> Moderation -> Muted words and tags

That will work on the whole website though, and not specifically from your news feed.
