That actually explains a lot of annoyances I've had in the past and have right now.
if your big tent is like 1% or more nazis, i'm burning it down with everyone inside
if you're not kicking nazis out of your spaces, you're making nazi spaces.
Yup.

Yikes. Directly subsidizing them is a choice.
As my students learn in my Russian intelligence module, the KGB used to do this in Soviet times - it was called a prophylactic chat with the aim of nipping minor transgressions in the bud and discouraging further behaviour that was frowned upon by the state

Flexbox is quite a newfangled thing, it did not exist for ~20 years of the web's existence

In the short term we might see this used to automate generating better character/environment animations during development. But it's going to be a while until it could run on consumer hardware in real-time.
I concur to that, in my public conversations w.r.t. moderation infrastructure Doll has often been a voice of reason and offered valuable insights.
At this point I'm not convinced that it's LB, but I don't have much stake in figuring out if that's true, so I'll wait to see how the situation unfolds

05.10.2025 09:04 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If you haphazardly slap together some CRUD with 3 js frameworks on top, and it uses 20 more resources than it actually needs and crashes every 3 hours - nobody cares because it still kinda works.

IMO, big factor in the lack of liability is that a lot of time bad consequences are non-material and/or harder to quantify. If you design a building that collapses - there's a lot of money that went into it and the result is clearly visible.
Install it for yourselves, test things out. Ask doll questions. File bug reports.

Hot take: some societal dynamics that moderation is expected to tackle are inherently impossible to effectively deal with in a decentralized setting.
