Right? Not to mention the throwing the reader into an established world and having the faith they can keep up. In both Supes is sort of the iconic straight man that a crazy world can bounce off of.

Also, the "dark" tones of Kingdom Come were very much a rebuttal to the Image Comics of the time...that aspect is lost when it is smoothed over as just "cool".

I think its that the Snyder team lifted imagery from Kingdom without engaging with the story it came from. The Snyder (and Nolan) superhero movies are littered with a Pinterest board like hodgepodge of comic moments that "look cool" but are kinda whack (to use a technical term) out of their context

Here's what I'd like to see, an Amicus style anthology adapting Ramsey Campbell stories. Bonus points if Campbell writes the framing segments.
