"These attacks are causing much suffering for Iranian people, and it’s destroying the space in which Iranians were struggling for social justice and civil liberties” - Behrooz Ghamari-Tabrizi, once imprisoned on death row in Iran. www.democracynow.org/2026/3/2/ira...

I have said this before, but eliminating programs that teach a lot of students but don’t have many majors is like a restaurant not buying flour in its grocery delivery because people aren’t ordering flour on the menu.

the war is not "aimless." It is corrupt, unjust and immoral.

The U.S. government keeps telling us there’s no money for schools.

While funding the murder of elementary school girls in Iran.

Enough can’t be said about how “machine-learning” simply reiterates the anti-blackness of tech bros and their ilk. And that includes the violence of disregard: “oh, we didn’t anticipate that as a possible problem.” That’s racist too.

Today, in honour of WEB DuBois's birthday in 1868, the @publicdomainrev.bsky.social features the hand-drawn infographics DuBois made with his students to depict the conditions of African-American life in 1900.

"A system of education is not one thing, nor does it have a single definite object, nor is it a mere matter of schools. Education is that whole system of human training within and without the school house walls, which molds and develops men."

If we want to actually do something about the cartels, we can start by ending the War on Drugs. We already ran this experiment with the mob during Prohibition. Turns out banning things just made organized crime richer. A regulated drug market is safer for everyone.

Every state should pass emergency public health legislation that would make concentration camps impossible.

Reducing human value to what we can be trained to do is straight up technofascism. Every fascism has its suhumans. To technofascists, humans are the subhumans.

Reminding myself, & you, that if we see something horrible we want to repost to make it known, quoting the post & linking a way for people to usefully counter the horrible thing is both good practice & good mental hygiene, even if we have to pause a minute & search for the useful action

I keep seeing the original reposted, so hope more people can see this discussion. Current events are bad enough without more misinformation.

There is a longstanding tension between the US and Canada that most USians don't know anything about. I don't think it took much for many Canadians to say that was the line in the sand for them.

The same day DHS announced the surge would end in Minnesota, ICE activity increased in small towns The less densely populated areas outside the Twin Cities make it harder for protesters and observers to organize.

There is no drawdown. There is no retreat. ICE is just redistributing their assets to better avoid accountability.

Disabled people are part of the future.
We must and should imagine and dream of futures where disabled people don't just exist but are everywhere, as we should be.
This need to fix/cure all disability is a eugenicist dreaming, and we should want better for ourselves.

In discussions with JUNIORS IN HIGH SCHOOL yesterday about the big ideas underlying the Gilded Age, multiple kids brought up "ai" as an example of unregulated capitalism that is harming individuals and communities. It was a reasonable discussion. 🤷‍♀️
