The Canada-US fossil fuel relationship is different to EU-US but most of these demands hold for Canada too.

Time to show you mean it about middle powers working together against US bullying @mark-carney.bsky.social

β€˜Extremely dangerous precedent’ set by Trump’s attack on Venezuela, six countries warn – live Spain, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay say US actions β€˜constitute an extremely dangerous precedent for peace and regional security’

Just a reminder that @mark-carney.bsky.social has every opportunity to keep the 'Elbows Up' promise he ran on in this moment and stand with our principled neighbours. He's actively choosing not to.

Notice how the difference between now and the Northern Gateway a decade ago is the weaponization of Indigenous co-ownership? Economic reconciliation is the tactic of our oppressors, and comes at the cost of our traditional economies. Solidarity with the Coastal First Nations resisting.

At #COP30 the EU poses as champion of a #fossilfuel fuel phase-out.

But it doesn’t need others to move first: it funds it, burns it, banks the profits, then points the finger South.

That’s not climate ambition – it’s demagoguery.

@cop30brazil.bsky.social President do Lago was just quoted @theguardian.com: for a fossil fuel phaseout "you don’t need public money from developed countries".

This is false & risks fuelling tensions in the talks where developing countries facing debt crises underline that public finance is key.

Oil Change International response to COP30 Presidency claims we don’t need public money for the energy transition - Oil Change International Bronwen Tucker, Public Finance lead at Oil Change International, said: β€œIt’s distressing to hear the COP30 Presidency say we don’t need more public funding for the energy transition.

🚨 In the final days of #COP30, we need to be very clear:

πŸ“£A just transition away from fossil fuels needs public money, and rich countries need to pay their fair share πŸ“£

The COP30 presidency risks derailing the entire negotiations by saying otherwise.
