🇧🇷 Copa Libertadores winners Flamengo started their Intercontinental Cup campaign yesterday with a 2-1 win against Mexicans Cruz Azul, their Uruguayan star Giorgio De Arrascaeta scoring both goals. They’ll play Egyptians Pyramids FC on Saturday

OTD 1953: 72 years ago Club Atlético Independiente beat Alfredo Di Stéfano’s Real Madrid 6-0 at Estadio Chamartín in Madrid!

It was the first game of a 12-game European tour which ended with a 3-2 loss against Huddersfield Town at Leeds Road in early 1954.

Will be keeping an eye out for it ☺️

Corbatta’s friend Rafael Barone was with him on that day, 22nd February 1977: ‘We saw several bodies, they’d been shot. The bodies were by the ticket office on Colón street.’

The identities of the four men and two women are still unknown.

Twenty-five years since one of Boca Juniors' greatest days. For all the domestic trophies, for their six Copa Libertadores, beating Real Madrid in the Intercontinental Cup (now FIFA Club World Cup) is up there as one of their proudest achievements!

They wanted to have 22 doguerreiros as they phrased it (my Portuguese isn’t great, might be wordplay, might be the actual word for dog!) Someone had to carry two if they wanted to symbolise the putting down of others 😞

Not sure what happened there haha Either symbolising dogs who don’t get adopted (😢) or the guy ahead was carrying his 🤷‍♂️
