Thanks for this opportunity, Matt!

Celebrating @tracieadams.bsky.social, a SmokeLong Quarterly workshop mate whose detailed feedback has taught me so much about flash — especially about revising with a focus on the emotional layers of characters.

A three-panel meme of Pingu, the stop-motion penguin, angrily gluing a pink heart to some glitter and sliding it into an envelope. The text reads " Mr Darcy writing his letter to Lizzy"

Those all sound so great! It’s a mix of scheduling and finances, but I’m hopeful about making something work later this year or early next. I’ve heard wonderful things, especially from fellow SmokeLong Fitness workshoppers.

I watched the “Unique Selling Points” workshop last week and really enjoyed it. I hope to find a way to do a live workshop one day, but I’m so thankful (esp. as a writer still so fresh to flash) to have these recorded options from an expert in the form. Thanks, Matt!

That’s great! In my experience, audio versions of flash fiction collections/books can be hard to find. Looking forward to this one.

What a beautiful issue! I purchased the digital copy and can’t wait to dig in. The file size was just a bit too big to be sent to my Kindle, so not sure if that’s adjustable for future — but it also looks lovely on my phone/laptop.

Great advice here. Since I started writing flash fiction, my phone and e-ink tablet have been especially helpful as I write & revise while busy with summer kid activities, traveling, etc. Scribbling “morning pages” first thing has been a good practice, too (and I’m not at all a morning person!) 🥱 ✍️

Loved reading this, Emily. And thanks for sharing your rejection journey, too. As a newbie to the submissions roller coaster it’s easy to feel like it never happens to anyone else, especially those at the top of their form. 🙃 Thankful for your work and wishing you the best with the next responses!
