I wonder what these 3 βfreeβ countries have in common?
The NWSL:
13.08.2025 00:53 β π 8 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0I wonder what other country or league this quote could relate to?
SPOILER ALERT: Way more than you think π
Non football folk in Australian think toxic positivity is supporting the Matildas when theyβre playing badly.
In reality itβs loudly cheering transfers to Europe even when theyβre obviously a bad idea.
There has to be more to this than meets the eye that we'll probably never find out
12.08.2025 11:47 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0of the Dub that players are exiting in droves to second division competitions and the USL?
The players and the APL are on a collision course with the CBA up at seasons end to find a solution and fast, because otherwise there could be severe long-term ramifications that hurt the #ALW
With the exodus of #ALW talent continuing from the competition for European opportunities or full-time contracts, I'm both excited and wary of what this means for the Dub. Excited because more fresh faces will earn opportunities not otherwise available.
Wary because what does it say about the state
I'll likely tune in, but this would have been better five years ago, or even two years ago. Hell, any time before he did the Trump inauguration and did it solo because no one wanted to do it with him, which left a massive stain on his reputation and legacy.
12.08.2025 00:42 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I don't think they're delaying so much as deals have been signed and not announced (see Melbourne Victory and Flannery loan deal), or clubs just haven't signed players for other reasons unrelated to Western.
11.08.2025 13:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I can't even put into words how I feel about the Tongyik signing, because I don't think any form of coherency can describe my feelings about it. It's so bad.
11.08.2025 12:01 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Trying to remember why Fatima Payman was kicked out of the ALPβ¦

11.08.2025 08:10 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sydney FC have announced the signing of Tiahna Robinson. She will join Heather Hinz and Sofia Fante as part of Sydney FC's goalkeeping stocks in the #ALW.

11.08.2025 03:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It still works, but the problem is I can't get it to reattach together to get it back in the handle to tape around it.
11.08.2025 03:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Five different places have either refused to look at it or tell me it's likely unfixable. Yay π
11.08.2025 03:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I keep forgetting that this isnβt because of an unforeseen recession or knock on effect of a pandemic or global war, this is because of an insane fascist whoβs trying to tank the global economy because heβs drunk on greed and thinks heβs the fucking king of the world
11.08.2025 01:56 β π 58 π 5 π¬ 0 π 0Insane as all hell. Someone needs to demand an explanation from the league that actually covers it on a regular basis. They'll be in a much better spot to do so than I am.

The Israeli murder of Palestinian journalists is always intentional, always met with silence. And that's why it keeps happening. don't look away

BREAKING: One of the most important and prominent reporters on the ground in Gaza has been Anas Al Sharif.
He - and several other Al Jazeera journalists - have just been assassinated by Israelis forces whilst in their press tent in central Gaza.
Speechless.
Barely an hour ago, Palestinian journalist Anas Al-Sharif warned us all:
βIf this madness doesnβt end, Gaza will be reduced to ruins, its peopleβs voices silenced, their faces erased β and history will remember you as silent witnesses to a genocide you chose not to stop.β
Israel just killed him.
We can not continue to risk player welfare like this, and "cooling breaks" are an admission it's too hot to play.
Someone is going to get seriously injured or worse because of a decision like this.
Can someone tell me exactly why this game had to be played at 1pm local time, during an extreme heat warning, and on a synthetic pitch to boot?
If it's because of TV, sign a better deal that does not endanger player welfare.
If it's because of anything else, delay kick-off or postpone the game.
I know this U-23 team is not the one which will contest the Asian Cup, or even the World Cup, but there's enough here to have me concerned, especially when moments from full-time it's over 70% possession for Australia and only 1-0, a scoreline which hasn't looked like changing.
10.08.2025 14:19 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think it's the fact it's a tournament Australia need to do well in to actually make the World Cup, against opposition the team has struggled against because of things like being unable to break down a low-block defence, and Montemurro's answer to that is generate more possession.
10.08.2025 14:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That is the channel I am watching it on (it's geoblocked in Australia, hence VPN)
10.08.2025 13:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Credit needs to go to the Philippines however, for showing that Australia just can't break down a low-block to save themselves unless the skill gap is insane. Maybe it won't matter come the Asian Cup itself, but we'll see.
