It was!
And it included music by women— a gorgeous piece believed to be by Eleonora d’Este, and also one by the professional female musicians. I’d not known there were professional female musicians then.

Every now and then, it's worth reminding yourself that every single crisis of Trump 2.0 -- the economic downturn, the chaos in our cities, the rising health crisis, the foreign wars -- has been a direct result of their own actions.

If they'd done nothing at all, they'd be coasting comfortably.

I just read Paul Krugman’s transcript of his Substack interview with Phillips O’Brien. It’s even worse than I imagined, and I already knew it was very very very very bad.
To borrow from Jeremiah, why did God make me a historian? Even far outside my period/region, much is obvious.

It’s cold.
AccuWeather predicted a low of 39° F. It is currently 29°.
Argyll and I would like out gruntle back.

Hm. The stable genius’ hand-picked set of national security loyalists failed to “fully account for the potential consequences of what some officials have described as a worst-case scenario now facing the administration.”

Imagine.

Exactly.
Bad enough that he thought war would be fun.
Worse that he cannot learn to value humanity, even now.

Frozen stuff is clicking on my windshield. It was 82° yesterday, 69° overnight, and 62° when I got up this morning.
The crocuses that jumped out yesterday may be regretting their choice.

Old signals along a decommissioned railroad, now a walking trail. There are trees behind them to the right. Bright blue March sky overhead.

Early walk for Argyll and me today. Here are the Watchers by the Way, enjoying the sharp shadows of a March morning, and a blush of robins dancing in the trail grit before them.

I.e., not Somali. As opposed to the regime's depiction of Somalis as the source of most (all?) of the fraud.

Depends on how phonics is taught, I think. My first grade teacher made us sound everything out all the time, which means that to this day I cannot read word by word or phrase by phrase.

Also, she kept marking things my papers wrong bc she heard things differently in her head than I did at home

First time in 3 months the weather has been fit for sitting (or any activity other than brisk movement) outdoors.
Argyll and I are rejoicing along with all of creation in our region!!!

I missed Unique Names Day this year.

Strictly speaking, my name is not unique, but it is uncommon enough that neither I nor my cousins have ever found our name on any item in any gift or tourist shop.

(Might have been different if we’d lived in the 1700’s, and there’d been tourist shops then.)
